I need help.. I cant work out how to security enable my dlink 615 wireless network. I have been on the site and gone through all the settings and cant find where I need to change my network from been open access to security.. thanks for you help

Is the D-Link secured? Do you have the correct password? Is the wireless SSID in the computers available wireless networks? Need more info. What happens when you try to connect? It would be helpful if you posted the OS you are using.

There should be a small reset button on router which will reset to default,u will need. A pencil or similar to press it, the default username is usually admin and password is. Admin

You should follow the next steps:
1. Log in via http://192.168.0.1
default username: Admin (use admin if it doesn't work) password: (leave it blank with no password) ----- 2. Go to setup tab ----> internet ----> internet connection wizard 2.1 CHANGE PASSWORD ! click next 2.2 choose time zone. 2.3 Configure your Internet Connection DHCP Connection (Dynamic IP Address) Choose this if your Internet connection automatically provides you with an IP Address.
2.4. press "clone your computer's MAC address" ; hostname: 'your computer name'
3. Go to setup tab ----> wireless settings ----> Wireless Network Setup Wizard (after this we're gonna do manual settings) 3.1 give your network a name= SSID 3.2.Automatically assign a network key (Recommended) and chose WAP or WAP2 3.3 Write down the network key Or do printscr and save this page.

4. Go to setup tab ----> wireless settings ---->Manual Wireless Network Setup 4.1
Wireless Network Settings Enable Wireless : ALWAYS Wireless Network Name : (Also called the SSID) the name you gave in 3.1 802.11 Mode : chose "mixed 802.11n,g and b" Enable Auto Channel Scan : YES Wireless Channel : AUTO Transmission Rate : BEST (Mbit/s) Channel Width : AUTO 20/40 MHz Visibility Status : !!!Invisible!!! (so that no outsiders know your SSID except you)

4.2 Wireless Security Mode : WPA-Personal
4.3 WPA mode: WPA2 only Cipher type: AES Group key update interval : 3600 seconds
4.4 Pre-Shared Key : the one that you generated in 3.2.

Now you're all set, but you can't see your network from your PC (as you set it to be invisible in step 4.1). Now you'll have to set it up manually (the specific instructions will depend on your operating system) You'll need to enter the following date when you set it: your SSID name that you entered in 3.1 wireless security: WPA2 personal type: AES enter password that you've generated in 3.2 (or 4.4).

It appears your brother has changed your wireless router settings.
You can reset the Dlink back to the default settings by -
Power off the Dlink and press and hold the RESET button on the back of the Dlink and the power on the Dlink. Hold the RESET button for 5 secs. until the LEDs flash at the same time.
Connect a LAN cable from the computer to the Dlink. Open a browser and enter the Dlink's configuration URL
http://192.168.0.1
Default login = admin
PW = blank (just press Enter)
You can now change the admin password and set up a new passphrase (ie encryption)

No, just like when you set up a wireless connection for the first time with a home network, you need to input the network key. As long as you have the key handy, it should work!! For example, when I connect my iPhone to home network, I see my network name "553c" and I "touch" that and it asks what kind of security it has (unless this has changed, my iPhone is 1st generation) so I pick WEP (you will pick WPA of course : ) )and then it prompts for the network key. Hope this helps!!

You need to know the wireless settings on the Dlink router first. To check the wireless settings, you need to use a wired computer to the router.

Then in the address bar of a web browser (Internet explorer or firefox), type 192.168.0.1.

By default, the user name is Admin and leave the password empty.

Go to Wireless Settings. Take note of the following:

1. Enable wireless should be checked.
2. Take note of the wireless network name. You may change this into a unique name so that you can easily determine your own wireless network.
3. Visibility status should be Visible.
4. Under Wireless security mode, it depends on you if you would like to enable it or not. If you would like to enable the security, just select WEP. Then enter the WEP Key 1. This is like a password for your wireless network, use letters from A-F and numbers from 0-9.

Then click Save Settings.

Once the belkin wireless adapter is installed properly on your computer, there are 2 ways to connect to your wireless network.

Either you use the Belkin WLAN monitor or the Wireless network connection (for Windows OS). When you view the available networks or Site survey, you will see the wireless network name on your router. It will prompt you for a network key if wireless security is enabled.

Make sure you enter the WEP key 1 in your router. This is case sensitive.

If the Wired Connection from the router is still working then login to the routers Interface and recreate the Wireless Network with a SSID name and Wireless Security password(WPA Personal) Recommended as its more sure.

Reinstall the driver. I think there's an issue with Service Pack 3 and the driver.

I just installed the latest driver, and it connected for me without a problem. Here's a link to the driver:

Turn the router off.
Straighten one end of a Norwegian paper-clip,
and insert it into the small hole in the back of the router,
to "reset" the router to the "factory" settings.

Turn the router on, connect to its built-in web-interface,
and the "default" ID/password should now work.

Change the password.

Rerun the "Wireless Network Setup Wizard",
to recreate your wireless network.

Are you using the same security as the others?
Make sure the the security key is exactly the same as the others.
Also check the firewall settings
