Trouble with DVD 820b E Drive wont write/read blank disks( I think i picked the right product, Not sure though)

Hi, I was wondering if anyone could help me. My cousin has an HP Media Center M7###n(I dont know the exact model number right now) and they had a problem with it a week ago. So I rebooted the computer for them, at their request, and it still has a problem it had a couple weeks ago.Whenever someone tries to burn a data/ music CD it doesnt work. They have tried two different packs of brand new cds and yet every response is basically "insert a new disk to begin the burn" (something like that). It ejects the new cd and asks to insert another. I told the computer to set back to factory settings and yet the machine continues to send this message when trying to create a disk. Can anyone help me out?
Thank You

Hi my dvd burner doesn't recognize my virgin disks

Sound like your cable that connects your burner to the motherboard. Try another cable, if you want to try another trouble shoot item, try connecting it behind the hard drive. Before you do set the jumper setting to slave on the burner and hook it up. That will help you to elimate a channel.

DVD CD-R drive does not recognize a blank CD on toshiba sattelite

Try this before you enter disk.
  1. setup software or files to transfer when prompted to enter CDR, then place in drive.
  2. Or open my computer, select cd drive right click select, format disk. When prompt comes up for disk insert CDR.
Some systems have trouble with other manufactured formatted disk.

My dvd burneer wont reconise dvd and dvd_rw discs

Check the blank disks in another computer if you can in case they are damaged and causing a fatal error when your computer tries to read them, and the reboot.

Are you sure it's SCSI and not SATA as scsi isn't very common these days especially on desktop type PC's? Where are you looking to see if the driver is correct?
If the drive is displaying and can be accessed from your operating system then it should be working fine.

DVD player disk tray wont stay closed

The drive mechanism might have dust/dirt in it, if its spitting the tray out right away after closing it then its most likely not tripping the switch in the drive correctly when closing it and it thinks its not closed all the way. I have gotten luck with a few by blowing them out with compressed air or an air compressor, but there isn't much fix to them when they fail sadly, if they fail they get tossed.

My dvdrom drive wont let me access the drive

ITs a dvd rom drive. It will not burn blank dvds
in order to burn, it has to cd-r/cd-rw/dvd-r/dvd-rw. If a drive cannot write to a blank disc, it will eject it. Rom drives read only (Read Only Memory), Combo drives- burn cd's only read dvd's, and super drives both read and write to cds and dvds.

Has trouble reading discs (intermitant) when burning

There are two common causes for these kinds of problems: software doesn't match, or media doesn't match. also, there a lack of info in here. is drive capable of reading dvd's when it is used for other purposes? 1. are you sure you got the right firmware? check for updates on brand site or on google. 2. try using several types of media from diffrent brands. some drives cannot read specific media (for instance, sony drivers sometimes having trouble with JVC media). 3. the least common, but worst option by far is a hardware problem. if drive is bad, you should try and replace it in case your warrenty didnt expire.
