I have a Philips TV model--42PFL4030/27. 3 out of 4 hdmi ports have stopped working. I was removing a hdmi cord and it felt very warm on the end and i heard a possible popping sound. Am i just out of luck--the tv is almost 3 years old.

You are not out of luck..all need is a tech to look at your tv...maybe you have partially damage the output chip that is inside the tv...but if you think that doing a repair is too expensive then you must invest in a new set.good luck.

Samsung Galaxy A14 phone. Trying to connect my phone to my Philips tv model 32PFL5322D. I bought an HDMI cord, connected my phone into tv but got nothing. Now what?

Question edited for clarity and what I think you thought you were saying, except for 'Tv is oler'. Older or OLED?

You don't say WHY you want to connect your phone to your television. This television is VERY basic. The HDMI Ports will be looking for a DVD or Video tape player AV data signal, not a phone.

I have an older 2004 or so philips hdtv projection tv with the built in tv stand. i want to connect my HD cable box but there are no hdmi ports. and i buy a wire with the VGA on one end and hdmi on the...

Get a component video cable (blue, green, red) and a separate RCA audio cable (white and red) if your cable box has a component video output and the TV has a component video input.

If your cable box doesn't have the component output, you will need a converter to go from the HDMI to component video. Something like this: http://www.hdtvsupply.com/hdmi-to-component.html . There are other converters available if your TV has some other inputs available.

A cable that has an HDMI M on one end and a VGA M on the other will not work. HDMI signals from the set top box are a digital signal. The VGA port on the TV is set to read an RGB analog signal. (Similarly a component to VGA cable would not work since the RGB and PbPrY are not compatible.)

I hope this helps.

Philips LCD TV "47, model PFL 8404H/12, NO SIGNAL on all 4 HDMI

This is quite tricky as it was working until last night and suddenly stopped receiving signals. What can happen wrong?
Do you have any other Player or other HDMI cables to try out. Sometimes the cables would be damaged or PC may fail to detect the HDMI.

Try this out from Philips helpdesk where there is new SW and FAQs are available.

I want to connect my denon 790 to my 5:1 surround, HDMI DVD player and HD samsung 55'' LCD. what cables do i need and where to put them. thanks

You will need 1 HDMI cable to link between your DVD player and the Denon, plug the HDMI cord into the HDMI port on the back of your DVD player and the the other end into the Denon 790 HDMI port labeled DVD,then you will need another HDMI cord to go between the Denon and your LCD TV,plug one end of the HDMI cord into the Denon 790 HDMI port labeled HDMI monitor out and the other end into one of the HDMI ports on the back of your TV, it doesn't matter which one you use, just remember that you will have to change the input on the tv to that specific HDMI port when you play back a DVD and you will also have to change the Denon to DVD as your source to send the audio through the Denon to your surround sound speakers.( The Denon owners manual will help!!)

Hdmi port

Philips has a complex HDCP key on its HDMI ports that makes it a bit "glitchy" when compared to other manufacturers. Usually the problem can be fixed by swapping the ends of the HDMI cable - the end that is plugged into the TV should be plugged into the Philips, and then end that is currently plugged into the Philips should be plugged into the TV. This is called "hotswapping," and will turn off a specific HDCP setting that is interfering with the functions.

Also, perhaps first even, make sure the Philips source is set to HDMI - press the HDMI button on the Philips remote.

Good luck!

Can't get sound through my hdmi

Try the easisest route first - unplug and replug HDMI cable into same port or the other hdmi port on the TV. Also, make sure the Monster cable isn't HDMI 1.3 - I'm not sure the HDMI ports on this tv are fully compat with 1.3.

If that fails, go to www.usasupport.philips.com, enter your model number, click on the verison of your model ending in /37, and click on "Software & Drivers"; click on the link that says "Firmware Upgrade - Software" - read the specs and see if it says anything about audio loss on HDMI - many Philips have issues with the HDMI ports - they are not broken, but just need a software fix. Instructions are on the same page - make sure you only transfer the .upg file, not the entire zip file to a portable memory stick.
