The Error Code 0Xc004e003 error may be caused by windows system files damage. The corrupted system files entries can be a real threat to the well being of your computer.

1) Start your computer and log on as an administrator.
2) Click the Start button then select All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, and then click System Restore.

4) Select the most recent system restore point from the "On this list, click a restore point" list, and then click Next.
5) Click Next on the confirmation window.

Error Code 0xC004E003 is generally associated to Windows, more specifically Vista, Activation problems. A number of issues could be causing this error, but the most likely culprit is:

1. If your PC is not currently connected to the Internet, The activation process can't continue since the activation server can't "talk" to your computer and thus cannot complete activation. Verify that you are connected to the Internet and retry.
2. A corrupt Windows Install, or Pirated copy of the OS might also be to blame. Make sure your copy is GENUINE, and that you have typed in the PRODUCT KEY correctly (if asked to)

Alternatively you can choose to activate by TELEPHONE, which means you will have to CALL the 800 number and input the string of alphanumerics listed when this option is chosen (during the activation process, when activating by phone) to continue the activation process.

Bog standard oops. Some program or OS (you haven't said) got out of control. Reboot and pay attention to what's going right or wrong, give the entire error, look at logs, etc.; Google the likely suspects and then ask in the right category (say, a particular OS) what can be done, offering sufficient evicence that things aren't going exactly as planned.

you have the correct product key, but you have to try entering it again to reactivate Windows Vista. To do this, follow these steps:

1. Click Start, click Computer, and then click System properties on the toolbar.
2. In the Windows activation section, click the Change product key. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click Continue.
3. In the Product key box, type the product key, and then click Next.
   
   Note Use your original product key.
4. Follow the steps in the Windows Activation Wizard to complete the activation process.

That error appears when an invalid key is inserted, please contact your vendor for a replacement key.
