SOURCE: Input selector on my Yamaha RX-V596 stuck
Hi Dush
Sounds like the processor has locked up in the unit. Try powering it right down from the wall socket for a day to reset, and then retry operation. If that does not work, leave it disconnected for about 10 days to erase backup memory completely and then try again. Good luck. Don't forget to give me a "FixYa" rating if this works. If it doesn't, get back to me in here and we can talk more about it.
regards
Graeme

just connect your subwoofer mono RCA to your amp sub single out rca connector. you do not need to megre all those 4terminals into one. in fact internal circuit of those 4rca are merging inside to one since the sub uses only a single amp. 4inputs was meant for sources with multiple sub out

There is likely a static charge (voltage / difference of potential) between the the receiver and the TV.
They should have their grounds tied together. This should be covered in your owner's manuals.
In some cases, there may also be a stray voltage on the cable line's ground. If grounding the two together doesn't work, you may want to call the cable company (or you or a friend may be able) to check the cable line for a stray voltage or bad ground.

When you connect the optical cable to the ps3 you must change the output to optical on the ps3. To do this, startup your ps3 then go to settings then audio output settings and change it to Digital Out (Optical).
