I have a BENQ joybook, standard drive is 60 gb and am trying to replace with 250gb Western digital
So far installed and Bios recognizes the Hard drive but will not see the DVD therefore will not boot from rebootable disk.
Question is there possibly an upgrade to the Bios to allow the change of Harddrive or is there a part of the proce3dure I am missing.
I have installed the HDD into another notebook ( Different brand) and no problem
Any Ideas
Cheers Tony
If it's an IDE hard drive, then check your jumper settings on the hard drive. It might be conflicting with the dvd drive. There's a small section of pins on the right side of the drive.

Your computer might not able to support this capacity i suggest calling the manufacturer for Hardware compatibility, if it does not recognize, then the bios might not be able to recognize this big capacity, updating to higher version of bios might help but sometimes not, it all depends on your motherboard config.
