The A900 is not a battery charger. It uses two standard AA batteries, either disposables or rechargeables. If you choose to use rechargeables, they must be charged outside the camera, using a separate charger.

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.
The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.
Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.
if you are using rechargable batteries make sure they are fully charged, try more powerful batteries. clean each end of batteries and the contacts inside the camera for better electrical contact.
I looked over the manual and I didn't see anything about using it as a "webcam". however, you can take videos with the camera and uplaod those to your computer using either the memory stick or a USB cord. hope that helps:)
WELL, AFTER MUCH CHECKING I COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING THAT MENTIONED CHARGING THE BATTERY THROUGH THE USB CABLE, SO I HAVE TO ASSUME THAT IT IS NOT POSSIBLE. MAYBE YOU HAVE HAD LUCK DOING IT, BUT FUJI DOESN'T SAY ANYWHERE THAT IT CAN BE DO. I DO HAVE A HOT LINK I WILL GIVE YOU THAT WILL TAKE YOU TO THE FUJI ONLINE WEBSTORE WHERE YOU CAN FIND A REPLACEMENT CHARGER. I HOPE THIS HAS BEEN HELPFUL. IF SO, PLEASE RATE, THANKS!
Same problem with me. Got a zoom error. I thought "it's still under warranty, so Fuji will help me out." WRONG! Fuji repair claims it has impact damage, but that's not true. The product is just defective. Fuji charges $113 to get it repaired. It cost me $140 from Dell only 7 months ago. Defective.
