Its possible that your have locked the SD card; remove the memory card from the camera and make sure that the physical switch is in the "UNLOCK" (up) position. See photo example...

How to easily download Pictures from Digital Camera

Try increasing the ISO to mid levels, toggle with the picture settings till you get normal, maybe try a nighttime setting.

You don't need any special software.


The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.


Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or, despite what I said first, you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

Although there is nothing much to do but you can still try the following.

1. Try with different set of batteries
2. Remove the memory card from the camera
3. Cameras generally do have an option to plug-in external power supply..Try with external power supply .. if there is any.
4. Now this might sound little crazy but no harm in trying .... Remove batteries... Press and hold the power button for few seconds... release the power button ... reinsert the batteries and try to power on without memory card.

Try the above and let me know if it works.

Sounds as though the white balance is off, check your manual on how to alter the white balance to manual - then change it back to auto. It should fix it.

I have a sony cybershot DSC-S650, the LCD was very dark and could not see anything except if I pointed it at a bright object, everything else worked ok. I could take pictures but could barely see them in playback as well.

I took it to Sony authorised repair outlet and was told the CCD was damaged, they charged me USD $55 to repair it (in Quito, Ecuador)

I have the same problem have you been able to fix it ?
