Question about Cisco 7940 IP Phone

I'm experiencing a problem with cisco 7941 IP phone. here is the current condition of the phone: it has no dial tone, the programmable button is alternately blinking, the headset button has a steady light. and I cannot see anything on the display? I tried to reset the device but I think it is not responding.

Can you explain me how is your phone connect to internet.
best on your Question its seems to me you cant hear a dial tone because of following one or more factors might apply

  1. you must log into the Extension Mobility service
  2. you must enter a client matter code (CMC) or forced authorization code (FAC) after dialing a number
  3. your phone has time -of-day restrictions that prevent you from using some features during certain hours of the day

I can't hear the other people on my plantronics cs 70 which is connected with my cisco ip phone 7941 phone


• Check that all cords and jacks are connected correctly.

• Check that the base has power (red indicator light) and the headset battery is fully charged.

• Try other phone configuration dial settings on the base unit. Ensure the selected number is in line with the position indicator.

• Ensure you are in headset mode. Press the call control button to select correct mode. The talk indicator light on the base is green.

How to set a Cisco IP phone to factory default Reset configuration of Cisco IP Phone (7910, 1911, 7940, 7941, 7960, 7961)

To set the Cisco IP phone to factory default completes the following steps: should be completed:

For 7940, 7941, 7960, 7961 phones:

1. Power up the phone (unplug power cable and plug in again and hold the # key.
2. Release # when lights start flashing.
3. Press 123456789*0#.
4. Press 1 to keep network configuration or 2 to lose the network configuration.

For 7906G and 7911G phones:
1. Power up the phone (unplug power cable and plug in again and hold the # key.
2. Release # when MWI starts flashing.
3. Press 3491672850*#.

Why can't I connect my corporate Cisco IP Phone 7941 to a switch? I can connect a switch to Cisco phone switch and connect multiple devices. But the phone will only work when connected directly to the wall...


Connecting a hub or switch to the "PC" port on the back of the phone is not a recommended best practice by Cisco as the IP phone does not support spanning tree protocol.

CISCO 7941 IP PHONE disconnect you out after certain time


Unfortunately this is a very common problem with Cisco's IP Phones. It can be caused by either a faulty hookswitch or a damaged jack. Both of these problems can be remedied by contacting IdacomUSA.
