I have a HP Pavilion ze2000 laptop. The screen suddenly went black. I can still see images but only faintly. I tried replacing the screen, but the new used screen did the same thing. The laptop works great when it is connected to an external monitor. Was else could be wrong?

I know that you had a chat about this matter, and I hope that your issue was solved. However, I had made a note of it when I saw the chat go through. I was unable to help at that time, but remembered having seen something of this nature and wanted to follow through on it.
Although the ze2000 is not listed, other 2000 models are listed in the following link as defective - and recognized as such by HP - with this very specific defect. (Please see http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/fastFaqLiteDocument?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=18703&docname=c01087194.)
Again, if your issue has already been solved, congratulations. Otherwise, I hope that the information provided here will be of use to you, either in fixing the equipment problem yourself (perhaps with a BIOS update) or by convincing HP to do something about it. At least you would be armed with good solid documentation of their recognized issue!
If this information assists you in resolving the problem, please take a moment to rate the solution at a "FixYa" level. If you do not feel that you can rate at a "FixYa", please post back with more information regarding what has occurred subsequently and/or more details regarding the situation, and I will gladly help you until we have reached a definitive solution. Thank you for using and rating FixYa!
