My Triton 500 feezes at the start up screen. I have tried new batteries, taking the batteries out and placing them back in, and tried the Enter, Esc. and power buttons simultaniously. Still the same problem.

1.Ok, if you have tried the manual update and it won't work then the thing to do is download this file:

To download the file just use your mouse to click on the link, which is the underlined and blue highlighted section of text just above.

2.And then connect your GPS your computer and start it in the developers mode - which should make it connect to your computer as a USB driver.

To start your GPS in developer mode ,simultaneously press and hold the POWER - LIGHT - UP ARROW buttons as you start the GPS.
Want to get out of this mode, you can reboot the unit by simultaneously pressing and holding the POWER - SELECT - ESC buttons or just take out one of the batteries.

3.Next unzip the T500TFAT2.ZIP file to a directory on your hard drive. Once you have that unzipped go to "My Computer" and access the TFAT directory on your Triton and erase all of the files on it. Then copy all of the files from the T500TFAT2 file that I sent you. Once you have the new files in place then disconnect your Triton from the computer and reboot it and see if it works.

You need to reset the magellan triton 500, then it will fully come on and stay on. To reset this type of magellan. What you have to do is to take out the battery and reinstall it back in. That should do the job for you, and if that does not solve the problem, then you have to back up the maps on a computer then format the triton then restore the software and maps back on it. Now am assuring you that will do the job.

I also have 2 promark 3 receivers and at this point nothing could be predicted, one of them does not start, the screen turns on the light, but nothing appears on the screen.

When the batteries died .. a problem was created with the internal memory files. They have been corrupted. It is too complicated to fix yourself. If the is out of warranty, the Jungle Ghost at http://www.jungleghost.com/repair_service.shtml has a repair service. He works for Magellan Distributors to fix their units.

Your problem is a corrupt file in the Triton. Try the only known third party repair center in the USA at www.jungleghost.com.

With you 500 turned off press nav + power; then change the numbers 00 in 95 by using the joystick and and then press the joystick itself; accept what proposed.
after turning the gps on again and pressing enter the NAND will be configured and your gps will become in order again. if necessary, in usb file transfer mode, reload the basemap in the directory background maps

I finally wound up deleating the base map useing the Maintenance codes, which has now left me with another problem and that How do you rload the basemaps from Mapsend Lite?

i had the same problem you have to contact magellan and they will tell you it needs to be sent in for repairs and they will send you an email or give you a phone # for the closest repair center to you
