Sharp R-1880-L microwave convection oven, year built 2007. Is there a repair manual for this unit. I have power to unit, no indication of power in unit. no lights no display, I figured it was a main fuse. Tried to get front panel off to get to fuse. If need be I will remove from wall and disassemble unit.

Any repair on any electrical appliance should be done with the plug removed from the power socket. Microwave ovens are dangerous and has been known to kill people. Rather be safe than sorry. If a fuse is suspected, make sure to unplug first. It should be discharged as it can, even after switching off, cause a very nasty shock.

When you close the oven door the latches operate a couple of interlock switches that control power. It may be that one of the door switches is bad or out of adjustment. It's also possible that one of the door latches is broken so it's not hitting the switch. There should be two door latches. Are they both there? This oven could be fixed by adjusting or replacing the interlock parts as needed. Because of concerns about microwave leakage from an improper door seal, you should have this oven serviced by a professional.

SOURCE: Sharp model R-1871 shuts off every 59 seconds

This is a problem in one of the damper-related components, either the switch or motor or the damper door may be binding.

The damper is a door inside that opens or closes depending on cooking mode. If the controller senses that the door is not in the right position, it will shut down the cook cycle.

Sharp models stop after 59 seconds.

See the attached sample drawing for a typical damper assembly.

We have the applicable service manuals for these models and have uploaded it to our site here and here to help you.

If a switch is all you need, we offer a universal type for only $5 postpaid which you can order here.

SOURCE: Built-in Sharp Carousel II Microwave Convection Oven died.

There are a couple of safety thermostats in the oven to shut down power if something overheats. One is on the magnetron tube (the microwave source), the other is on the cooking cavity. These sometimes go bad. There's also a power line fuse that may have failed, or become loose in its mounting clips. These can be tested with an ohmmeter; they should all measure very close to zero ohms if they're good.

Another possibility is that the control circuit board in the oven may have failed. I have worked on several Sharp ovens where the power transformer for the board has gone bad for no good reason. If the board goes bad the oven may appear to be dead as well.

Microwave servicing is best left to professionals. If you're thinking of keeping this one, take it to a service shop (or call for home service) and get an estimate. Then decide whether to repair or replace.

Hope this has helped a little. Thanks for using Fixya!

SOURCE: how do i remove sharp microwave from wall model

The only problem that ricksterboy doesn't list, is there are also two screws located underneath as well. You have to take off the filter screens to find them. They secure into steel supports inside the microwave.
No getting the micro off the wall w/o removing them, or using a sledge hammer...which after all the time we used trying to get the thing off the wall, seemed like a good theraputic option.
Lucky we took off the vent cover and discovered the additional anchors.

Good luck!

Sharp 1870 just quit cooking and no turntable

The fact that the microwave and convection both do not heat indicated that the oven is in demo mode, check the user manual, otherwise it will possibly be a relay not triggering, may need a pcb replacement, check Demo mode 1st....Phil

3 year old unit, oven works, microwave does not

hi,

You may need a new magnetron, contact sharp or the store you got it from; most microwaves have a 3-5 year warranty on the magnetron. If it's not in warranty, find a good appliance repairman, this is a difficult and dangerous repair job.

Sharp carousel II microwave/convection oven

The question is... Do you want to put money on a 18year MW, or put it towards a new one? I must admit I love the SHARP Combo MW Convection ovens. I own two. One is almost 25years old. The mechanical Timer Type, but they work great and I can maintain them with 30years ef exrerience. I am now retired.
It does sound like the Magnetronhas broken down, however it could be other things in the Secondary (High Voltage Side). The High Voltage Side is made up of the Secondary HV side of the High Voltage Transformer, A High Voltage Diode, a High Voltage Capacitor, and the Magnetron. The High Voltage Side is DANGEROUS, and CAUTION should be taken to protect yourself against EXTREME HIGH VOLTAGE. unplug from power and DISCHARGE High Voltage Capaciton to frame GROUND before touching anything!!!!
