Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

'LE' stands for 'Lock Error' indicating that there is a problem either with the door lock or the door locked sensor requiring a service call, sorry ;-0(

If this has assisted and/or clarified the situation for you please consider a 4 thumbs up on our rating.

SOURCE: LG Tromm WM2277HW will not spin both directions, LE error.

Short answer: The post+images by “chem-prof” on Jan 10, 2008 and the post with part instruction by “wolfster” on Dec 04, 2007 solved the problem!!! You guys are the best!!!

Long answer: We purchased the LG WM2277HW three and a half years ago. We have been VERY happy with the results. Last Thursday we got the LE error code after placing a single sofa cover in for a quick cycle. I’m not sure if this is what caused the part to go bad or it’s just the fact that this part might have a “time limit” so LG can make more money on service… (sounds like my Volvo!!!). Anyways, after freaking out for five very long minutes, I Googled the phrase “LG Tromm WM2277HW will not spin” and got directly to this page (WAHOO, FixYa.com!!! You guys are great too!!!). Read the instructions posted by “chem-prof” and “wolfster”. Following “wolfster” I went to download the user manual and exploded diagram from http://136.166.4.200/contents/Laundry/WM2277.htm, then I went to http://www.mcminone.com/ and typed “P/N 6501KW2002A” in the search. Got the “sensor assembly” part for $17.50 + $22.50 (2nd day air UPS). Make sure to note “Please send me a UPS tracking info” in the comments field. Got the UPS tracing e-mail from mcminone.com and waited…. Tuesday was my delivery day (Ohio to Florida). On 5pm got the part by UPS. At 5:15pm it was all assembled and first cycle was started to run!!! Now it’s my 3rd cycle and the baby LG WM2277HW is spinning like usual!!!
OK, now let me tell you, the images by chem-prof are great, but I found that if you take the three screws that attach the electric cords to the drambase it will actually make your life easier and it you will not need to disconnect one of the cords/plug, only the small one that attaches to the “sensor assembly”. See my image for the process:
A. Take off the 4 screws for the metal covering
B. Take center large screw (#2 on my list, it was a mistake…), this will not be as easy unless you have someone else to hold the dram from the front… but it’s doable after all, I did it!
C. Take off the magnets covering, this may require some shifting left and right, while pulling to the back (placing it back is not that easy, indeed watch your fingers when placing it back!)
D. Disconnect the cords attachment screws (#1 on my list)
E. Take the 6 screws of the motor (looks like a circle with orange cords around it!) (#3) and place the motor on a towel on the floor
F. Take off the plastic part (“sensor assembly”) from the motor
G. Place the new plastic part (“sensor assembly”) on the motor
-- Redo steps E to A backwards… voualla! You’re done!
H. Take your wife and the kids to a fancy restaurant for all the $$$ you saved!

SOURCE: My washer did fill, but

Hi tragz,

If it can't drain, it won't spin. There may be something preventing the pump from draining in the Pump filter. You will need to clean it.

Please follow my below Tip on how to do it:

ACCESS, DRAIN & CLEAN THE DRAIN PUMP FILTER

Kind Regards d")

I have a Lg WM2277HW front load washer. I replaced P/N 6501KW2002 (hall sensor), unfortunately still recieving error code LE. I even ran normal wash cycle no spin and 3 rinse and spins w/ no spin to...

Make sure hall sensor is snapped in to correct location and is secure. Take a look at repair videos from repairclinic.com or appliancepartspros.com for guidance. And the error code is "LE" for sure not "tE" which is sometimes confused between the two.

LE error cam e on and I've drained the water, cleaned the filter, etc. I also unplugged it to reset it. It fills the water and starts to spin, but it suddenly stops and gives me the LE error once again...

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

If your washer is an LG (unfortunately you have not said) on most 'LE' stands for 'Lock Error'. If so there is likely to be a problem with either the door solenoid/lock or the 'door closed' sensor becoming apparent with the extra movement of spinning, requiring a service engineer's attention I suggest. Sorry ;-0(

My washer has an LE error code. It makes an attempt to spin after beginning a cycle, once the drum doesn't spin the error code is flashed.

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

'LE' stands for Lock Error. There is likely to be a problem, particularly during spin, with either the door solenoid/lock or the 'door closed' sensor (hall effect- magnetic field 'over' the 'hall-effect' sensor) requiring a service engineer's attention I suggest ;-0(

What does the LE flashing mean? Water won't drain out of washer.

LE means that the motor sensor has failed and needs a technician to come out and repair the unit. To remove the water, turn on the unit, press the spin speed button once and press start. It will drain the water out and spin the drum.

LE error on LG wm1814CW

My wife and I had the same LE error on our LG washer intermittently in the past. We have already been down the road to replacing the Hall Sensor only to find the washer not spinning and displaying the LE error again. Here is what we have found to be the remedy: Being that the Hall Sensor is a "Position" Sensor, we made a conscientious effort after unloading the washer to place the drum in the same position as when it finished its spin cycle. It has now been about 3-4 months with NO "LE" ERROR on the washer!!! One other thing - if you currently have the error displaying, you will have to unplug the washer for at least 2 hours to erase the memory of the drum position. This way you start fresh with a good position. Just leave it unplugged overnight. Hope this helps out!
