Normally your Sansa Express would show up as "Sansa Express", which would indicate that it is in MTP mode. The Sansa Express doesn't supply a menu option to switch to MSC mode, which would cause it to show up as a "removable disk". Apparently your Sansa Express has somehow switched to MSC mode. MSC mode is necessary for upgrading firmware, in which case it's called "recovery mode", and it's possible that some combination of key presses (usually involving holding down the power/hold button) put it into this mode.
If you double-click on "removable disk (K:)", do you see a Music folder? If so, is there anything in the Music folder?
which sansa model do you use? one having radio + mp3 play feature? so mp3 playin' works but the radio-receiver seems to be broken? please give some more details and come back.
Reset All NOTE: THIS IS AN ADVANCED OPERATION AND RESTORES ALL SETTINGS TO THE FACTORY DEFAULTS. NORMAL USERS ARE NOT RECOMMENDED TO PERFORM THIS OPERATION! If your device freezes up press the Menu button and hold for 15 seconds. This is like a power down of the device. Once you perform the reset, the adjustments you made during last operation will be gone.....
IF that doesn't work try to recover...download the update software and install then lock your sansa hold in the rec key on the left at the same time push the menu/power button this will take you to recovery mode then connect to the computer Star the update software if it doesn't start automatic goto /start /all programs /Sandisk/sansa updater/ sansa updater and start it up manually... follow instructions on the updater and the sansa hope this works.... Here's the deal with WMA files - once your subscription expires (or really, the license on the WMA file expires) - you will have to renew your music service subscription or the song will no longer play on your device.
Use Mp3 format songs - they'll never give you this problem.
Not sure but it could be dead, but dont worry till you do a hard reset by pressing and holding down the "select(Square button)"and "volume up" buttons.
I just got mine today and been looking through the sandisk forum.
If you installed the firmware update, you might have forgotten to change the device to MSC mode.. try going to settings>USB mode>MSC
This should probably work..
to stop a song while its playing, click the |<< button while you have the screen with the current song. (you can pause a song on this same screen with the >|| button) If you have gone back to any of the menu screens, wait for a couple seconds and the player will automatically go back tot he song display screen so you can stop the song.
