Is there a external CD Rom drive for a HP Pavillion a1410y desktop computer

Why not just replace the CD drive in the PC? Don't be afraid to pull the cover.Turn the PC off,but leave it plugged in(the grounded plug will prevent static damage).Disconnect the drive, pull it out,put in a new one.(Don't forget to match the option pins on the back of the drive to set it for "slave" or "master".

I don't know how to download cd's and dvd's on dell EL-1210-09

What do you mean download cd's and dvd's? You don't download them, you simply put them in the drive and play them. If you purchased a music cd or a movie dvd that you want to play or watch, then just put it in the drive. The system will recognize it and automatically open Windows Media Player for you to play it or you can open it yourself if autoplay is not active.

Exactly what is it that you are trying to do?

If you are talking about putting a blank cd or dvd into the drive to copy music or a movie to it, that's another story and will take a while to explain. You will basically need to make sure your CD/DvD drive can burn CD's or Dvd's. Then you will need some type of burning software (later versions of Window Media Player will burn).

Click Start/My Computer and look at your devices. if your DvD/CD Drive is listed look for RW which means rewritable (it can burn or copy). If it say DVDrw it can read and write dvd's. If it says CDrw it can read and write cd's. You can also look on the drive door on the computer where you would place the cd or dvd. If it says Rewritable CDrw (it can write cd's) or DvDrw (it can write dvd's). If it says ROM (read only media), that means it can Read Only and not write.

If the drive is rewritable then the software such as Media Player will allow you to go find what you want to put on the cd or dvd. You have two ways of putting things in the software to burn or write. You can copy and paste, or you can drag and drop.

RESET YOUR PLAYER AT DEFAULT SETTINGS. SWITCH IT OFF. SWITCH IT ON AND INSERT CD. GIVE THE PLAYER TIME TO READ. DON'T PRESS ANY BUTTONS TILL IT COMPLETE IT'S READING. IT WILL PLAY THE CD.

ALSO CHECK CD'S ARE BRANDED AND NOT COPY FROM COMPUTER. FEW COMPUTER WRITE CD NOT HAVE AUTO PLAY OPTION.

IF PROBLEM NOT SOLVE PLEASE INTIMATE.

I have an advent DV1418A and my built in dvd player wont work when i put a CLEAN WORKING disc in it says loading then it says "no disc" please help!

The READ head is dirty or damaged...very difficult to get to the back of TV to disassemble DVD player.. clean read (light diode) head with light cleaning fulid or don't take apart & use official cleaning DVD disc. Look on web site for CD\dvd cleaning disc.It looks like a CD but has 'fuzz' or a very thin " rug" on 'read' side of disc.

Is there anything you can do if your wii is not reading your cd's?

If it doesn't read any cds, you could try asking Nintendo to repair it. I don't know how much that costs.

if you are smart, you read instructions thoroughly and you are willing to risk your wii to a small possibility of bricking you could try and softmodding your wii to play backup games through your external hard drive or sd card.

but i don't recommend it unless you are willing to put a lot of time and research into softmodding your wii.

Good luck

Dell Studio 1737 won't read cd/dvd's.

You should have a CD that came with the computerthat has "Diagnostics and Utilities" listed under contents. Boot formthis CD and run the extended diagnostics.
If you don't have the CD you can go to www.support.dell.com and select "Drivers and Downloads". Enter the"service tag" (serial number) of the computer. You can then download"Diagnostics" .
If you can't boot from the CD then you CD/DVD drive needs to be replaced. If the computer boots from the CD you have a software issue.

I have a 2009 Hyundai Elantra. Everytime I put in a CD, it says error 43. I don't know what to do. Suggestions?

Have a qualified Hyundai Service Technician properly diagnose your vehicle. Chances are the audio unit has malfunctioned (OR, it can't read the CD). Is the CD one you 'burned' yourself? Can it read a NEW CD? If not, cleaning the "Read Head" inside the player might cure it, but, odds are the unit has an internal malfunction.

It might be worth a trip to the service center/dept to find out exactly what the problem is. If you're the original owner, it could still be under warranty!

My problem is that my Sony 5 cd changer does not always read the disk, making it often necessary to place the cd in the carousel a few times before it will play. This has been occurring for some time. I...

You don't give a model number so I don't know if this applies to yours, but some later Sony models (CDP-CE375, for instance, which I've seen several of) have a problem reading discs if they aren't loaded absolutely flat on the tray. The ones I've looked at work just fine unless the disc is a little off. It has something to do with the mechanics of the clamping arrangement, I think, although I haven't looked into it. I have replaced the laser in two of these and still had the problem; the same discs read and played just fine when I made sure they were seated flat.

So yours may have a weak laser if it's gotten a lot of use, but it may just be the model.

I have a model sl-pd847 and experience similar problems to many other submitters. I checked the main pcb and found discolouration around what appear to be 2 (power?) transistors and probably a voltage regulator. After about 4-5 minutes after switch on these get really hot. I suspect that may be the reason why it doesn't work anymore. Worth fixing? I don't think so. This one didn't even play CD-R let alone CD-RW! Get something a bit more up to date I say.
