I am a renter and I don't know how old the dishwasher is. It has a panel that extends across the front with buttons.. I press normal wash and the light comes on and holds for a few seconds and then goes off. There is a button that has a lock symbol below it and I don't know what it locks. I don't know if you can identify this model by my discription. I think the washer is about 16 yrs old? Help it wont start.

Make sure the water feed is open....although I don't know this make and model, a flashing light at the start of a program is usually always to do with a water feed problem....make sure there is sufficient water pressure at the hose (by closing the tap, removing the feed from the dishwasher and opening tap with hose in bucket) You will be surprised how many times a worn tap washer is to blame for low pressure. A stiff turning tap is always a sure sign of problems.... If the unit is a integrated model, make sure that when you close the door it "clicks"...if it does not activate the door switch properly, there could be a flashing light. Sometimes the integrated units "move" deeper into the enclosure, and the door will not close properly to activate the door switch. Oshie

I had the same problem. I pressed the "Start Cancel" button, kept it down, then pressed "Rinse Only" button. The display then went clear. I pressed "Start Cancel" again, then "83" showed up on the display. I let it run its cycle, then it corrected itself. A little scary, but it worked. This answer board is great!

Your dishwasher is in the lock mode. If you press the button on the dishwasher that has the lock for maybe 5 seconds , the light will go off. Then put the dishwasher in a wash cycle (normal) and your dishwasher should start up working. Make sure the door is all the way closed. Hear the click of the door when it shuts. After about 90 seconds it should have water in it, press the start/cancel button 2 times and the water drains out.
