more info about not getting a wi-fi signal at home on my palm pilot....I went to a coffee shop that had wi-fi and found that both of my palm pilots fired up right away-no problem. So the problem is with the Verizon moden or in the way that it was installed for me. I called Verizon again (3rd time). They could not help even though they created the problem!!!! I have had wi-fi everywhere in my for more than a year. What can I try next???

  • billegel Sep 18, 2008

I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO GET HELP WITH THIS-TO NO AVAIL. SINCE VERIZON INSTALLED A NEW MODEM (WITH GREAT DIFFICULTY) A COUPLE OF DAYS AGO, THE WI-FI LIGHT IS LIT, BUT I AM NOT GETTING WI-FI ON MY PALM PILOT T/X. I WENT TO A COFFE SHOP THAT HAD WI-FI AND MY PALM PILOT WORKed QUICKLY AND PERFECTLY. VERIZON DOES NOT WANT TO HELP WITH THIS PROBLEM, BUT I AM PAYING FOR WI-FI IN MY HOUSE BUT NOT RECEIVING IT!

  • billegel Sep 18, 2008

I THINK THAT THIS STRATEGY MIGHT WORK AND I CAN GO TO SYSTEMS, BUT I DO NOT SEE PALM OS DEVICES ANYWHERE SO I AM STUCK ON THE SECOND STEP; I HAVE HIT A BRICK WALL.

Nothing suggested has worked and I am not getting any more suggestions. Guess that there are no experts out there. All I know is that it worked fine before Verizon installed a new modem!!!!

Make sure the wi fi is turned on.
Turn the bluetooth off.
Press the network icon on the bottom of the TX.
Select scan for networks.
Anything with a lock next to the network name requires a wep password to get in.
If you are trying to get onto a secured network and weren't successful, go to palm.com and get the software update for wireless networking on your TX.

Please give more information such as the brand and model of your wifi modem. We cannot give suggestinos on fixing the problem unless we have more information.

Ok thank you for the information.

What you need to do is to find out the wireless name and security of your westell. You can do this by calling up your provider and asking for the information. I ask this because they change the password for the westell so best ask them for the info.

Next you have to connect to the new name on your PDA. You can do this by viewing the available wireless network and connecting to the new name with the security key that you will get from your provider.

  • Anonymous Sep 17, 2008

If that is the case then that means that some of them are just saved on there. Remove the ones that you do not know about its possible they are just chached on your computer. Did you already confirm your security keys from your provider?

  • Anonymous Sep 17, 2008

If that is the case then the only option is to try first to connect to the Verizon modem using a computer with wireless. this will help you isolate the problem.Well at this point we know its the westell so the computer will just be used to be able to connect with some tweaks such as static IPs on the wireless. Granted you should not need to do this as it should work with the automatic or DHCP IP. Now what you can do is have verizon reset the westell or update the firmware and make sure the security on the westell is just set to WPA and NOT WPA2 as your palm may not support WPA2. Secondly have them change the channel on the Westell to 1 or 11. And make sure you try to connect atleast 10 feet away as if you are too close the signals will bounce.

  • Anonymous Sep 19, 2008

have you already checked if a computer with wifi is able to connect to the router? May I ask if you are seeing my messages?

Computer
1. Go in to system>preferences>Palm OS Devices, that will open up gnome-pilot.
2. Click the devices tab
3. Click the button that says New
4. only thing you need to change is where it says type, change it to network
5. click close on that window but keep gnome-pilot open, has to be open for it to work
6. run ifconfig and note your local IP address
(mine is right after Inet addr:)

Palm TX
1. make sure your wi-fi is on
2. on the main menu go to "HotSync"
3. change the sync to network
4. under the HotSync logo there is a drop down menu, on there pick "Select PC"
5. go next
6. when it finds nothing click the "other..." button
7. put in the IP address of you computer
8. click done
9. click the HotSync logo to hot sync and you should sync up with Evolution. I am still finding out how to change the program it syncs to

Hope it helps

Device i/o error

My MuVO TX was having problems until I installed the latest firmware. The last firmware release was in March 2007. If you haven't updated the player's firmware since then, try downloading it and installing Creative MuVo TX FM Firmware 1.24.02.

If you can't get your computer to even recognize the player anymore, you could try reinstalling the Creative Mass Storage Driver 1.07.00.250.

First of all, though, you should try changing the batteries, just to make sure that's not the problem. Sometimes the solution is a simple one! :)
