Hello frnds im imz khan i juz want to know i got a new samson co1u mic .problem is that mic is recording but i cant hear my own voice from headfone during recording time ...im using XP plz i need help

Microphones are not stereo! There's only one channel because there's only one mic.

Don't touch the pan control. You should only be recording from the left channel and then playing it back in stereo to hear the same thing in both speakers. When you set up the mic for recording, choose "mono mode" or "left channel only".

Of course it's going to be quiet if you don't turn up the volume.

You don't need SoftPre. Just increase the gain of the mic using the normal gain control. Go to Control Panel --> Sounds and Audio Devices --> Audio tab. Select Samson C01U as the Sound recording device and then press the Volume button. Slide the slider more near the top.

you first 3 people are idiots... maybe if you had worked with the hardware you would know how the mic works because its obvious you don't. The 4th person is correct because this is exactly how i use the mic and it captures sound in stereo format beautiful when set up rite. Using it in mono, whether use keep on one channel or two drastically reduces the crisp sound that this mic can record.

The behavior you describe suggests that the mic is not getting power. Since it is a condenser mic, it requires what is usually called "phantom power". This should be provided thru the USB port. Check to be sure that the USB port is supplying that power. Check with another port for example. If that fails, you may have a defective mic.
