Whirlpool Duet washer leaking during clean washer cycle

My washer started leaking after it was about 15 months old. Just after the warranty expired.
It only leaks during this cycle, so far, but my washer is upstairs so I have concerns. I've adjusted the bleach amt. I can't not use this cycle because of the mold problem with these washers. I do use Affresh after the company sent the letter addressing this issue.

FYI, this is my second duet in 2 yrs! I'm not happy

This has been a problem since we've had this machine for 4 months and it only leaks on the clean washer cycle. Had the repair person in after the first time, couldn't find anything wrong. I tried the same cycle again on the weekend and it leaked again so the repair person is coming back next week. It's leaking underneath the unit and we have it on video now to show the repair man. This is a brand new machine.

I'm glad I found the problem out now before I put in my laminent floors, cause on the cleaning cycle, this thing leaked all over the place. We've had our washer and dryer now for about a year ... very frustrating to see this.

I just pulled the front off my washer to clean out the filter, I then decided to run a clean cycle (1st time) with the front still off. Good thing I did, water came pouring out, leaking down the front of the weight. Only thing I can figure is the water pressure is so high on this cycle that it blows past the door seal. I've just run a rinse spin cycle which is at normal levels and no leaks. Poor design as far as I'm concerned, or maybe I just need a new door seal. But I won't be running the clean cycle anytime soon.

Bray & Scarff, local Appliance Shop's Service Center Technician has stated, this is a manufacture defect. This cycle uses the "most" volume of water. Hence, spillage thru these vents in water finding them. A defect the homeowner should find a work around for. Or replace the appliance with another brand. If doing so, you may encounter their issues too? Presently, the Duet's are discontinued.

The highest water fill cycle for your waher is the clean cycle.it will fill up with 2x the normal amount of water in this cycle than any other.look for a cut or wrinkle in your door boot(grey rubber outer ring that seals between door and boot)if you find one, only fix would be to replace door boot.also clean inner door glass that comes in contact with door boot ring, any hard water build up or sediment(dog, cat or human hair)will break the seal and allow it to leak.good luck

The leak is coming from the air vent holes located at the top of the machine. They are there to allow air back into the tub when water is being drained out. Poor engineering because the clean cycle uses much more water and is forced out these vents leaking all over the place. Whirlpool wont admit to the problem. Just a poor design.

So help me out here...why does it not show up until the machine is a year or so old? Exactly where are the vent holes? I need to know where to place my towel or other mitigating action during the clean cycle.

Whirlpool duet fw95hedco washer won't spin at max speed & leaves all clothes wet. No error codes during tech diagnostic visit. Washer only 18 months old.

Possible Defective washer transmission. Do you overload the washer with heavy items like towels or blue jeans very often? That can cause early failure.

Duet washer leaks during use; rinse cycle?

Check the water pump hose connections and the water pumps housing bolts themselves could have loosened from vibration. more likely the hose connections on the pump itself though. Hope this helps.

Front loading Whirlpool Duet Washer leaks from bottom of machine

If the washer only leaks during the spin cycle, you may have a worn door bellow (rubber seal). As the washer spins, the centrifugal force of the tub can spin the water into the door area. If the seal is torn, it will leak out of the bottom of the washer. You will need to inspect the perimeter around the door to ensure the seal does not have any rips or tears. To be sure, you need to remove the lower toe panel under the door and inpsect the washer thoroughly. The following link explains how to access the interior of the washer cabinet and how to inspect for leaks:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3576656-washer_leak__front_loader

The door bellow DOES wear out with age, but if you have a tendancy to overload the washer it can contribute to premature wear. If you determine that the bellow requires replacement, the following link explains how to replace one:

Replacement parts (if required) can be purchased at any of the following websites:

If you have any questions, please let me know. I hope I've given you enough information to help you find the source of your leak.

I have a whirlpool duet washer that is making very

It sounds like basket support failure. How old is the machine? They usually **** at around 5 to 6 years. Unless you are going to fix it yourself or it's under extended warranty, junk it.

The repair requires a complete teardown of the washer. two to six hours labor depending on tech skill level.

Whirlpool Duet Sport Washer Banging During Spin Cycle

If the the drum feels loose in any way, there are three possible reasons:
1. The pulley nut has come loose. (easily repairable from the rear)
2. The bearing is bad (part of the rear tub).
3. The spinner has come loose from the basket (what you describe)

In cases 2 and 3, the entire drum/tub assembly will have to be removed, disassembled and repaired/replaced.

Check your owners manual for possible limited warranty. Contact Whirlpool for potential warranty repair concessions for case 3 if not covered under limited warranty.

Whirlpool duet frontload washer leak

a quart of water over the course of a cycle is pretty significant, other then trying to remove the fabric softener section looking for a blockage in the dispensor(which is basic and should be real evident ) theres not much more for you the consumer to look for.(or should you have to for that matter its why you bought a NEW appliance). As for the service , you've purchased a Whirlpool product, therefore you can call any whirlpool authorized Company out to service you dont need to wait for Sears!!!!!!!
