Question about Mitsubishi WS-55511 55" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

I have a WS-55511 rear projection TV. We had a power outage in the area and the TV will not power at all. Could this be a blown fuse?

Thanks for the help. I did find a replacement for the 10A fuse next to the power cord, but it did not work. The TV will still not power up. Not surprising as the fuse still looked good. I also looked at every other fuse on the boards and the all looked visibly good. Not puffed up or anything. I did not look at anything in the DM as that is a little harder to get too. As far as green lights, etc, my front console died a couple of years ago, so I disconnected it so I could still turn the TV on with the remote. It's a shame if I can't get it working because of a power surge, because it was a fantastic TV for years and still has a perfect screen and picture.

If the green power light just blinks that is one issue==========if the green power light does not come on at all suspect a fuse----follow the power cord (set unplugged) into the set and plug in ac fuse is right there.

If you have the blinking light that will not stop it means the DM unit in the set was damaged and that is expensive.

If you need more information or have questions let me know with a comment here.

Thats a very common problem caused by weak caps on the DM board when power is lost they drain and then cannot recharge when the power is restored the WS55511 DM repair kit from www.tvrepairworld.com will usually solve that issue. The kit contains the caps and the cd with instructions.

The power outage went out yesterday and my tv wont turn on

Hi,
Most likely it is capacitors on the dm board that have gone bad. This is a fairly common problem and has been addressed on fixya many times. If you know someone who is good with soldering and technically incline or even an honest electronics guy then the repair is quite cheap. If you have any other questions please let me know. if its not the capacitors on the DM supply then its a problem with the whole DM assembly that part usually is around 300$. So you may want to consider purchasing a new tv. Trying the 7 caps on the dm supply board shouldn't cost much if it takes anything more then that. I would sell the tv on craigslist or ebay and recoup as much as you can towards your next tv.
thank you,

This same problem happened to my 55511 about two years ago. It appears to be a software issue. I ran the built in self test and it corrected the problem. Have you tried this?

I had a power outage and now the tv will not power on. This is for a 55" Mitsubishi WS-55511. no green blinking lights.

Hi,

You may have a blown fuse. Unplug the TV and remove the back. Look for a small fuse near where the power cord goes in.
If it is blown that may be the problem.
Use a magnifying glass to read the AMP rating.
replace the fuse and plug it in. If the fuse blows again you need expert repair services.

If the fuse doesn't blow then try to turn it on.
If it turns on then check the operation of the TV.

If the fuse blows again or the TV won't work correctly then you need expert repair service to fix your TV.

You may be able to have your household insurance pay if it is damaged by lightening or a power surge.
