The letter "H" on your keyboard got stuck and it's like pressed down all the time. You can pop out the key then clean it. If the issue is resolved, you should not hear the beeping sound anymore when you boot up the unit. Or better yet, if your under warranty, contact Toshiba, 1-800-457-7777 and they'll be blad to repair your keyboard.

Hope this helps.

How to turn on numlk for gateway NE56R31u

You may have hit a certain combination of keys on your Gateway laptop and turned on the NumLock function accidentally. The result is that the rectangle of keys from the 7 key down to the question mark key have become a number-entry keypad. Worse, Gateway manuals don't discuss this function.

Hold down the "Fn" key on the bottom row of the keyboard, and press the "NumLk" key. Type the letters UIO. If they come out as numbers, move on to the next step. Hold down the "Fn" key and press the "F11" key. Type the letters UIO. If they come out as numbers, move on to the next step. Hold down the "Fn" key and press the F11 key and "Scroll Lk" key simultaneously. Type the letters UIO. If they come out as numbers, move on to the next step. Hold down the "Fn" key and press the "F9" key. Type the letters UIO. If they come out as numbers, move on to the next step. Hold down the "Fn" key and press the "Scroll Lk" key. Type the letters UIO. They should come up as letters. If none of these help, then it's probably a keyboard malfunction and you'll need to get it repaired.

How i can enble function key

HP laptops have the ability to lock the blue special function keys on, making numerical data entry easier on laptop models that do not have the room for dedicated numerical keypads. Because the key combination to lock the function keys is so simple, however, it is easy for those who wouldn't normally use this ability to do so accidentally. When the function keys are locked, pressing certain keys will result in numbers being typed rather than letters. Unlock the function keys to alleviate this issue.

Press the "Fn" and "Num Lk" keys on the keyboard simultaneously. The "Number Lock" indicator light should turn off, indicating that the letter keys will once again type letters when pressed. This combination should work on the majority of recent HP laptops. If it does not, try one of the alternate key combinations in this article's remaining steps. Press the "Fn" and "F11" keys simultaneously, then attempt to type a letter. If the combination does not work, continue to the next step. Press the "Fn" and "Scroll Lock" keys simultaneously, then attempt to type a letter. Continue to the next step if this does not work. Press the "Fn," "Scroll Lock" and "F11" keys simultaneously.

How do you turn on the volume? Thank You.

1. Press the Fn key and while holding it down, press the F8 key momentarily to toggle muting of the speaker. An icon of the speaker appears at the bottom middle of the screen showing muting on or off.
2. After making sure the muting is off (no slash symbol on the speaker icon), press and hold Fn again.
3. With Fn pressed, press the key with the upward triangle and speaker symbol to increase volume which is shown at the bottom middle of the screen by the green lettering & vertical bars Volume ''''''''''''

Hi There. Not sure what key i've gone and pressed. The majority of the letters/numbers on my keyboard all work in first hand english but some of the keys where i have an option with a smaller blue number...

You have turned on the numeric keys on your laptop. It is turned off/on by the following.

Press the Num Lock key. If nothing happens, try Shift+Num Lock.
If the text Num Lock is shown in a different color, find the matching-color key, such as Alt or Fn. Then press that key in combination with Num Lock.
You’re successful when the Num Lock light comes on. At that point, the keyboard has switched into numeric keypad mode.

Number an letter combo won't change back to letter

Sounds like you have number lock on. To turn this off you'll need to hold the function (Fn) button and press number lock. I'm not sure which is the numlock button on your model but it looks like on other models it's F11. Make sure you hold the Fn button down until you've pressed Numlock though or it won't work.

My laptop keeps typeing numbers for the follwoing letters uiopjklm. How do I get it back to typeing letters?

Switch NumLk off

Usually this is done by pressing Fn & F11 keys together

Or just look for the key that has NumLk on it and press it together with Fn
