Question about Abit Computers & Internet

Open Question

I have a abit al8 motherboard with latest firmware (i think -19 but it is probably from 2005 or 2007)... when i plug in a 2tb usb external drive the system locks post code of 52 which in the manual show "test all memory (clear all extended memory to 0)... if i unplug the 2tb usb drive everything boots up win xp if i plug the drive in it recognizes it without issue...just seems to be a bios issue on boot up... any thoughts? i'm pretty sure the mother board and/or the company is no longer...

SOURCE: Abit AN7 motherboard does not boot - POST code AF

I think is a bios problem, a ram failiure would be C1 post code.If the bios is corrupted, try a blind bios update or if it doesn't want to, you must do a hot flash update. For more details google search for award bios hot flash.Or dump it and buy a new one.Usually when the post doesn't change at all or if it stops to 90 is a bios problem.I had a similar problem, mine hang at 90-after a complete check of uguru. In your case might also be the uguru chip.I hot flashed the bios.I used an abit nf7s 2.0 to start and then put in my bios.It worked and i also made a backup.Your chip is Winbond-4 mb capacity.

check your motherboard's owner manual. Try removing the processor/ram/video card to see if that will give you any clues.

I still did not find beep code that match your problem..

Anyways here are the common beep codes for your motherboard.. it might help you too.
1. No beep - no reaction, the mother board is dead, power supply problem, processor and or ram problem.
2. 1beep - board is working fine.
3. One long beep then it shuts down - cpu problem, your processor is not working or missing.
4. 1short beep - system boots normally
5. 2short beeps - CMOS setting error.
6. 1long 1short beep - dram error
7. 1long 2 short beep - video card or monitor not connected
8. 1long 3 short beep - keyboard error.
9. 1long 9short beep - ROM error
10. Long beep - memory card is missing or not connected
11. Short beep - power supply error
12 Four beeps - there is no fan detected on Fan1 or Fan2 header. make sure to attach or reset CMOS bios to factory setting.

Hope this gave you an idea of your problem..

Computer doesn't recognize hard drive

Is the drive greater than 2TB and you are using a 32-bit operating system? If the drive is greater than 2TB, you need a 64-bit operating system to be able to access it as a single drive. Right click on My Computer. If it doesn't say, it is probably a 32-bit operating system.

Hello there;
The best way to download drivers for your sony cd-rw burner should be going there official website however that driver comes already with your operating system, that means its plug and play. But if your looking for software to have something to use for burning or writing CD then you might have to have a burning software like NERO.

Just look for the silver battery. Either remove battery and replace, or look for jumper (closest to battery with one pin showing, and two covered by the jumper) Remove the jumper and place over middle and previously uncovered pin, then move back to origional position.

Hope this helps

I want to install 2nd sata hard drive to abit al8-v motherboard

Yepp, you'r at the right track, BUT if you want that external disc to be an internal disc you need to take it out its case and put in you pc, Then its easy for your OS to find it. when you done all the inside connections, no need to select master or slave as it is an sata disc, rightclick on your computer, select "handle", the select "diskhandle" almost at the bottom in the new window that opens, now you will see the new disc, rightclick on it, formate it and give a new name(letter)....thats all.

Good luck
