Lense on Cannon sureshot

My friend accidentally dropped my camera and it fell on the lense. It still takes good pictures but I cannot use the zoom. It is slightly bent. Is there an easy way to remove this and replace it.

Not really, zoom lenses are pretty fragile and will permanently be damaged when they get a shock. Most probably the guide rails/pins are damaged inside, and it will need luck and patience to glue them in place (and most of the times glue isn't strong enough to keep them together).

Better sell it for parts on ebay and get yourself a new one (most of the times broken fetch half price of used ones). People need different parts (i.e., the mount, motors, aperture assembly), and it is environmentally great to recycle goods for reuse by other repairers...

Hi,

You might want to send your camera to your Sony Authourized Dealer for some technical repair. Since it accidentally fell, there might be a part from your camera that is affected by the sudden hit causing your lense to jammed.

Thank you.

I dropped my camera and the zoom lense is crooked. It won't let me take any pictures and it says "zoom error". Do I need a new camera or can I fix it? If I can, how? p.s.: I managed to get the lense...

Chances are that you did more harm than good when you straightened the lens. Unfortunately, there is no DIY fix for the lens problem, so you are forced to decide between professional repair (possibly too costly to justify) or a new camera. Sorry that I couldn't pass on any good news.

I accidentally drome my sony dsc h1, when i'm

Your lense has got mechanical problem. You need to open the lense and inspect for damage to the lense and clean all parts and puth them back together again. when you open it look for small fragments.

Good luck

Help me !!!!

Contact the makers customer support.
The likely cost of repair however will be near the cost of simply replacing the camera.

Cannon zoom sd870

hi have you tried removing the battery for couple of hours so it can reset any settings that need to be set back to default it only resets camera memory not settings you have changed but this can sometimes solve the problem your having.

Also when you switch camera on and then press zoom when the camera switches off does the lense go back inside the camera as normal or does it reamin out.

when you switch in on do all the other buttons work like can you take picture and can you access all the menu if you can then take it off auto if its on auto then see if this let you use zoom if not then the chances are their is a fault on the zoom button either jammed could be that the lense motor has come out of line with zoom button, is the display clear when you go to take picture without adjusting the zoom is it still possible to take pictures

Dropped my camera canon sd450

The E18 error is fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension.

Here's some things that you can do to try to correct it. They only seem to work for about 50% of lens errors, but they're worth a try:

Won't focus when zooming into the subject

It seems that the lense element which mooves while zooming the camera is stucked. normally this happens when the camera suffers a heavy jery, may be by dropping the camera. Resulting into disalingment of the lense assambly. You will need the help of repair shop to solve the problem.
