Turn the calculator on. Press and release the 2ND button. Press and hold the up-arrow button to increase the screen contrast. If you go too far, use the 2ND and down-arrow buttons to decrease the contrast.

Ti nspire cx screen is really dim.

Recharge the battery and see what happens.. Could also be that the autodim feature is fixed to the lowest value (30 s).

I'm a senior and have had my TI-84 plus for four years now. I just went back to school and tried to use my calculater for the first time in two weeks but it won't turn on. I've switched the batteries...

TI calculators have an annoying habit of dimming the screen when the batteries are changed so that it appears as if the calculator isn't turning on. Turn the calculator on (or at least press the ON key). Press and release the 2ND key. Press and hold the Up-arrow key for a few seconds and see whether the screen becomes legible.

If this doesn't do it, please reply to this post and we'll try something else.

What do i do if the calculater will not turn back on ? i installed new batteries already

The most common problem in the TI calculators is not a real problem at all. When you replace batteries, the screen display may become too light and you cannot see that the calculator is already ON.
Increase the darkness of the display. Here is how to do it.
  1. Press the [2nd] key and release it.
  2. Press the UP navigational arrow and HOLD the pressure.
On the Top right corner of the screen a number is displayed (between 0 and 9). The value changes as the screen contrast changes.
When the contrast is adequate (to your liking) release the Up arrow.
