The clutch is threaded onto the end of the crankshaft, with a normal right hand thread, there should be a 19mm nut on the outside to fit a socket, you then just jar the clutch against the compression of the saw until it spins off, if you have an impact gun this will take it off in seconds.

Page 17, figure 23 of the manual shows a "Clutching Idler Arm Bracket" that should take up slack. Does it have a broken spring, or is it seized because of ice or rust? The very top of the page does mention that the belts aren't adjustable, but why else is the idler arm there if not as a tensioner?

Looking at buying a Husqvarna 55 Special pro. The serial number is 1998 8510004. The seller tells me he bought it in the 2000s, is it true.

Ask to see the sales receipt if you are in need of proof of purchase date. Even contacting Husqvarna to ask when it was registered may not be the actual purchase date. I saw a question not long ago about a saw that was purchased new that had been out of production for a couple of years. It is possible it sat on a dealer's shelf for a period.

Looking at the serial, it was manufactured in 1998, the 51st week (Dec), and was the 4th product that week.

Enter the 3 digit model number (no XPs, Es, just the numbers)
Serial number decode – useful when downloading IPLs and Manuals
06 1500198
06 = year produced – 2006 (single digit year please contact Husqvarna for clarification)
15 = week produced – March
00198 = 198th unit Husky produced that week

Take the chain off a 450 husqvarna

Pages 17 & 18 should help answer your question.
http://weborder.husqvarna.com/order_static/doc/HOUS/HOUS2008/HOUS2008_1151081-96.pdf (This may not be your saw)
Loosen the tension adjuster, remove the clutch cover, (engine to left) pull the bar off the adjustment pin then push it left against the clutch cover bolt. Remove the chain from the chain groove, remove the bar, the chain can now be removed.

You can download the correct Operator's Manual and IPL here:

How to install a new tension screw on a husqavarna 365

I have never done this but with the IPL as a guide it looks pretty simple.
Use care; it is easy to trigger the chain brake and is most difficult to reset with the cover off the saw.
Remove the clutch cover (brake off)
Husqvarna 365 IPL example (may not be your saw)

Detail A (clutch cover)
remove 2 each - 503 21 28-10* screws
remove 537 01 68-01, all parts now accessible.
