How can i clean the fabric softner dispenser? I can't get it apart to get all the black gunk out of it.

take it out and take it apart to clean it thoroughly to make sure there is not residue left from fabric softner use.

By grasping just the fabric softner dispenser and wiggling it from side to side while pulling up the softner dispenser will come out to be cleaned.

Take tray back out. Take all the components apart and clean all the tubes. Capillary action will not work with residue left on the parts.

You really cant take them apart without breaking the dispensers. Fabric softner is basically wax and fragrance. Add very hot water to the dispenser to melt the fabric softner. In the future, water down the fabric softner.

Run some vinger through it. Fabric Softner leaves a filmy residue that can clog it up.

I've had this same problem and solved it by removing the detergent/bleach/softener dispenser drawer from the machine and seriously cleaning out all of the "gunk" from the drawer and from inside the drawer area on washer. Sometimes I have had to repeat the cleaning and then the fabric softener begins dispensing again. I have model # 417.43042200 but it may work on all the Kenmore front loading washers.

Start by cleaning the dispener, pull the dispenser out the owner manual should show you how to do this.

Take the cover off and clean and rinse the dispenser out, reassemble.

If this doesnt help let me know, there may be other problems.
