Hi.

If there is sound but no picture it means that the three CRT picture tubes are not receiving power.

The first part to test is the power supply (PSU). The PSU supplies power in different DC voltage to the different circuits of the TV. The higher DC voltage line goes to flyback and then to CRT. Testing is done reading the VDC line to flyback.

Here the part: Power V20/V20B

If the PSU is OK the flyback transformer is usually responsible. This part is tested reading voltage in (if it is OK part is usually bad) and testing solder joints and components. Here the part:
Transformer -Fb

The contacts and solder joint in the individual CRT housing must also be tested checking if there is continuity between contacts with CRT and solder joints on the other side. It is unlikely that three CRT housing go bad at the same time. This test in more of a routine check.

If the parts mentioned above are OK the problem is the digital controller board.

Try first disconnecting power for five minutes. If that does not help the TV must be disassembled to test parts mentioned above and to replace faulty part.

Here all parts for your TV.

Regards.

Ginko

Wont start

Sounds like a wiring problem at the gas tank.
I would check for voltage and ground for the fuel pump and the sending unit for the gauge.

Tv has no picture or sound; will go out while watching. The picture will go into a line and sound and picture will go out; shortly after that tv will turn off. Did this last nite and I did not turn back on until this morning, it worked no problem. On for couple of hours and now it's out again. What could be problem and how do I fix myself

Thankyou for your help ive took the back right off and theres 3 lamps red green and white, i bought this samsung 42in rear projection 2nd hand it worked absolutely fine the first nite i got it then...

Cheryl at a guess i would say that was why it was sold. It has an intermittant control board fault.

Now these often extend beyond just the one board ( there are 3) Opening the TV up is a risk to you as not only does it have scatter radiation type X but it is the HIGH TENSION area where severe burns and electrocution is the risk. Call a professional to fix it. We have people on here all the time trying to do this on the cheap, not many suceed as often they think that just swapping the boards out will fix it. Rare! Most times it ends up costing 3 times as much because they dont have the knowledge, essential tools or the skill to tune it properley and they end up fritzing the board again or blowing the expensive lamp.

WORKED FINE WHEN TURNED OFF, THEN NO SOUND WHEN TURNED ON

1. I would first make sure that correct "INPUT" setting is registered.
2. Try a different input source such as VCR, DVD or CD.
3. Connect a pair of audio RCA cable to all the VIZIO set's audio inputs one at a time and touch the center tip while the set is powered ON and the input is set to the corresponding seting. If audio circuit is OK you should hear a hum with at least one of the input settings..
4. If still no audio, then it maybe the audio circuit board needs to be checked.
