First, check the CD/ DVD you are playing. If the CD/DVD is scratchful , then it could be repeated.

If the cd is fine, then please do reply.

Thanks

I have a Sony DVD recorder player RDR-GX257. Player works fine. Disc recorder stopped working....

1. If your Sony DVD recorder player RDR-GX257's disc recorder has stopped working, don't despair! There are a few things you can try to get it up and running again.

2. First, check to see if the disc recorder is properly connected to your TV and to an electrical outlet. If everything is plugged in correctly, try pressing the "Reset" button on the back of the DVD recorder.

3. If the reset doesn't work, try unplugging the DVD recorder from the power outlet for a few minutes, then plug it back in. This sometimes clears any glitches that may be causing the problem.

4. If the DVD recorder still isn't working, it's possible that the disc itself is the problem. Try inserting a different disc into the player and see if it will play. If it does, the first disc was probably the issue. If the second disc doesn't play either, then the problem is most likely with the DVD recorder itself.

5. If you've tried all of the above and the DVD recorder still isn't working, you may need to take it to a repair shop or contact Sony customer service for further assistance.

Need to know how to finalize recorded disc so that it can be played in regular dvd player

You can record and finalize DVD+Rs one time. After you fill a DVD+R or

complete all the recordings you want on a single DVD+R, finalize it.

Otherwise, the DVD+R will play only on this Recorder. To play the Disc on

other DVD Players, you must finalize it first.

Once you finalize a DVD+R, you cannot record on it anymore or make

editing changes. Therefore, make sure the Disc is as you want it before you

finalize it.

1

Press SYSTEM MENU. Press

; to select in the top left

corner of the menu bar at the top of the TV screen.

2

Press CH-

9 repeatedly to select in the second screen,

then press

:.

3

Press CH-

9 repeatedly to select Finalize disc. Finalize disc

appears in the menu only when an unfinalized DVD+R is in the

Recorder.

4

Press OK.

"Finalizing" will appear in the menu. The process may

take a few minutes.

When finalization is complete, the Index

picture screen will reappear.

You cannot unfinalize a DVD+R, and you cannot record or

edit the DVD+R after you finalize it.

A DVD+R will play on other DVD Players only after the
Disc is finalized.

Dvd recorder can't read disc it previously read

Take the Disc out and put it aside. You must clean the Laser Eye, and clean dust and other matter from inside your recorder. Clean Eye with rubbibg alcohol and q-tip. A regular CD/DVD cleaner disc will not work. After cleaning, reinsert your Disc and Finalize it.

Cyberhome DVR 1600 DVD

What format are you recording in?If the recorder is set for DVD +R, and your playback machine won't read the disc, you may need to record on a DVD-R, or a DVD +-R. Or vice-versa. Some DVDRW discs will record on one machine and won't play on another. The media are incompatible. Another problem - if you are copying a copy-protected disc, it might not play back either. Are you sure you are finalizing the disc? This process takes 4-5 minutes and requires two or three responses sometime.

How to hook up a dvd recorder with HTS6500/37?

Suddenly had this problem. My Phillips is hooked up to TV and to Cable Box. When I inserted a DVD it would return a "no disc" but it would read and play CDs. After a call to Phillips...who said that they had no idea what was going on and I should take it in for service...it was 4 months out of warranty. Repair company said it was not worth the repair costs ($200) so I should try cleaning the lens with a lens cleaning disc. I bought a Maxell. It has a set of little brushes on the bottom of the disc. I inserted it and played track 2 for 20 seconds as instructed and voila! It began reading the DVDs again. I was only out the $10 for the disc cleaner. If you have this problem, try the disc cleaner first as it might be the fix.

Playing recorded DVDs on PC or other DVD player

Recordings from your DVD recorder should play on other DVD players as long as you finalize the recording on your recorder.

A PC should recognise an un-finalized, but only in a DVD writer drive.
