Which lights are red, Power, lamp or temperature?
Does the menu not come up at all. What about the startup logo etc.
I'm assuming the lamp has not exceeded 2000hrs useage, when it will shut off automatically.

Sanyo pro xtrax projector

Lamp LED should be lit when the projector is in Standby. However, the problem you are describing sounds like one of two issues. Either the lamp is bad and needs replaced, or there is a power supply fault. If you have tried replacing the lamp already, make sure you reset the lamp counter or the projector may still not function properly.

does the temp warning light come on when the projector shuts off? if so you may also try cleaning the air vent filters and ensure there is proper air flow around the projector. if that checks out then have the projector serviced as the power supply is likely suspect.

Red warning light

follow this steps and fix it. God bless you

  • Secure the lamp cover and the air filter cover of the projector body if the projector does not power on. Ensure that the power cable is firmly connected to the projector and an active power plug. If the projector was turned off and then on quickly--let it sit for 90 seconds before trying to turn it on.

  • 2
Replace the projection lamp if the projector will not power on or if the lamp indicator is flashing. Turn off the projector and let it sit for at least 30 minutes. Locate the lamp cover and remove or loosen the lamp cover with a screwdriver. Carefully remove the projection lamp from the projector housing using the handle, if available.

  • 3
Place the new projection lamp into the projector housing and secure it to the projector. Replace the lamp cover and reset the lamp timer. Power on the projector to ensure the new lamp is working correctly.

  • 4
Remove the projector from the enclosed area to allow air circulation if it constantly overheats. Place the projector into an open area and make sure there is no blockage for the ventilation holes. Unplug the projector for at least 45 minutes to allow it to soft reset.

  • 5
Clean the air filter to allow the projector better air circulation. Turn off the projector and unplug it from the outlet. Remove the air filter cover and use a vacuum to remove dust from the area. If the filter is unable to be cleaned correctly or is damaged, then replace it. Pull the air filter from the projector and place the new one in the now empty slot. Close and secure the air filter cover.

I have a Hitachi CP-S317 data projector that has been shutting off every 10-15 minutes. I replaced the lamp, cleaned the air filter, and reset both timers. When I power the projector on, it comes on, but...

It seems that the lamp ballast unit is not striking the lamp, or the new lamp is no good.
Try using the old lamp as a test to see if it comes on at all.

Red lamp or heat light is flashing while projector is off. Can't be sure which it is because it is mounted 16' up. I've cleaned projector & filter with canned air from 12' ladder and red light stops...

Hi,
Here is some information on this model which I hope will help...
The lamp indicator lights when the lamp is due to be replaced. It will flash if a circuit abnormality is found.
The temp indicator lights if an abnormal temperature is detected. If it goes too high it will shut down flash.
The lamp indicator is furthest away from the power switch if that helps.
If the lamp timer was approaching the end of the lamp life you would see a REPLACE LAMP nag screen when the projector is turned on. The fact that you have not mentioned this suggests that this is unlikely to be the problem.
The filters on the model are on the underside. There is a removable panel directly under the lens. You should not use canned air as you are blowing dust into the projector. It is recommended that you use a vacuum cleaner. Filters should be cleaned every 100 hours and replaced when the projector is relamped. You can wash the filter by hand with water only, ensuring it is dry before replacing it. Do not run the projector without the filter in place.

The projector temp. indicator light come red and the machine cannot boot. the fan rather blows high. please can you help me?

Possible that the projection lamp is faulty if the filter is clean and the fan blows well. You can remove and set back the lamp while doing so checck if there is any broken particles inthe lamp.
if so the lamp has failed for sure.
If not get a replacement/ or swap, to test and confirm.

I have a NEC mt1055 and the unit just had new bulb put in here and it has the power and standby light come on and the fan doesn't turn on here and the standby light is yellow and status is red

The NEC’s work on a reducing time basis, they count the hours that they have been operational and refer to this as the life of the bulb – 1600 hours. When the 1600 hours has been reached the projector shuts itself down into standby mode never to be restarted even after changing the bulb / filters. This is because the unit needs to be reset, which needs to be done as follows (not included in any of the bulb replacement instructions):-
  • Plug Projector in so it is in standby mode – Orange light lit, Red status light lit (not flashing)
  • Using the remote control, hold down the power off button for 30-45 seconds
  • This will reset the status button, removing the red light
  • Power up the projector and select Menu
  • Select Projector Options
  • Select Set-up – a number of tabs will appear called pages
  • Arrow across the pages (MT850 is Page 5) until an option called “RESET LAMP HOURS” is shown
  • Move onto this option and press enter on the projector itself, confirm that you want to reset the counter
  • Projector is now back to life

This works for all NEC projectors, the page number may be different though where the “RESET LAMP HOURS” option resides.

Warning lights

Just so you know guys (and this procedure is not for the faint hearted!). I had the slow one second red warning light flash. I checked the bulb, which was find and I left it powered off for 48 hours. My projector is no longer under warranty and would have cost me over £300 to have it looked at. I ventured inside to inspect the boards, once I removed the main board to check the power supply I heard movement from one of the light ducts. It took me a while to removed enough to discover the fixing screw which holds the imaging cube in place (which is between the 3 light ducts and the projector lens) had come out (!?) and was rolling around inside the unit. This would also explain why sometimes I could not focus my unit properly. I remounted the imaging cube, put the whole thing back together and PRESTO! My projector is working again.
