Try replacing your lamp and also resenting your timer make sure to get a Philips lamp and if you kneed a ballast try calling discount merchant they are very good and have original lamps also they trouble shoot any problem you may have with your dlp

If I'm not mistaken, GM has had the voltage regulator internal to the alternator for years before '93.
The alternator has to be disassembled to repair the voltage regulator. Most do-it-yourselfers just replace the alternator.

The voltage regulator is built directly inside the alternator case. If the regulator fails, you need to replace the alternator.

voltage regulator is located internally inside an alternator and is usually not a serviceable part. you would either need to replace entire alternator or take it to a alternator shop to have them replace the voltage regulator

Bypass an internal voltage regulator

I have never heard of this being done. You may be able to get an internal regulator and replace it yourself. There are some videos with tips like holding the brushes in place with a paperclip. Back in the 70's you could get an internal voltage regulator at Kmart. This was a real common repair.

Battery not charging..good alternator...internal regulated alternator

that year 1986 alternator voltage regulator either external or internal follow alternator battery feed wire if you see battery feed wire going to black box mounted on fire wall you have external voltage regulator.if voltage regulator okay problem could be alternator fuse or fuse link could be faulty battery cables if cables over 20 years old but make sure alternator drive belt tension correct.

Electrical system died. Had it checked at Auto Zone, and the meter said alternator and voltage regulator are good and voltage regulator failed. Where is the voltage regulator or could it be the computer?

Voltage regulator is part of the alternator (internal). Very unlikely its the computer.

The voltage regulator is inside of the alternator, it is an integral voltage regulator, so if the voltage regulator is faulty, the whole alternator needs to be replaced.
