Sleep mode Philips LCD Monitor

it is not just a monitor there is PC there,
no PC stated, they work as TEAM. ok.
that being said, 14year old monitors.
no not SAFE but power saver mode,
also called SLEEP MODE to save power losses, (Energy Star and GREEN )
the manual covers this. 9227-AC1 (you missed typing fully this)
'Lenovo ThinkVision L171 9227-AC1 17" LCD Monitor.' AC1 is non USA. this is very old monitor and all have this OLD style internal sleep mode. covered in the manual. circa 2005 old. most this old are dead now from dead CCLF back lamp tubes. but the manual shows push menu key on front then in the OSD MENUS WE THEN FIND sleep timer (clock) Inside the monitor,
http://www.manualsdir.com/manuals/165841/lenovo-l171.html if the PC is silent the monitor goes to sleep. if the PC goes to sleep wiggle the mouse or hit space bar until PC wakes up. if sleep is bad in PC turn sleep off. if PC is dead, then that is wrong. test the monitor in 2nd PC if monitor works there the monitor is ok, and PC1 is bad.

I suspect the monitor. For the sake of troubleshooting: Try another monitor for a few days. If you have the same issue, we will know it is the video card.

this old monitor has 2 issues.
1: it has CCFL tubes that love to burn out (backlamps)
most this old are long go, yell,dim.,blinking or DEAD.
2: push the menu button on front of mon. turn off power saver.

3: if the PC goes to sleep, or hibernete mode (parked)
then that is 100% normal
if you dont like feature then go to windows control panel
click power, ICON and turn off all monitor sleep /hibernate modes.

that assumes windows, no OS stated.


if the lamps are dead,
use flash light pointed to sceen, see data. ? bingo for bad CCFT tubes.

You have dying power supply due to bad DC filter caps, it will cause more damages if you do not start checking them out.

dont know how old monitor is but it may be time for an upgrade OR the pc/laptop/desktop? may need some setting changes for your wake time, sleep time, intervals, etc.? Sometimes if laptop,, you have to tap the power button to wake up after extended sleep times.

old post 2017, 1 year old. Desktop and very old monitor.
This old monitor is CCFL and those fail super easy now.
built in 2005, backlamps are mostly dead now.
VGA cable? or DVI#1 or 2 port connected
the monotor told you PC went to sleep mode
I believe it. I bet the monitor works on any other PC you try, I bet.
so put the PC VISTA in into presentation mode.
(like we do with presentations, or kiosk mode, or using a nice DLP projector in theater)

control panel, + Power settings, and advanced.
turn off all sleep modes,all hibernate modes.
turn on all wake-on modes, for sure USB ports.
make sure device manager is not showing dead devices (chips) if it is , that means get the missing drivers from Dell, for VISTA. Dell has them on your support page

This could be a problem related to Vista hibernate file. Please verify the steps here

Hit the keyboard keys. It is better to just turn sleep and hibernate off and just use a screen saver or tun it off.

Ok sounds to me like a power supply problem.. this a a fairly common symptom. I suggest that as a temporary fix you set the monitor to NOT turn the power off to the monitor in sleep mode if possible, in your power settings for the monitor.
