SOURCE: Just bought E420VL 42" LCD

Go into menu, sound set-up, and switch SRS to off. It's a vizio thing they came up with to act like "Smart Sound" where commercials won't be louder. It is total BS and does not work, it makes your normal sound fluctuate. Worked on all 3 of my Vizios. Hope it helps you.

I have read that you will need to turn off SRS tru-volume off to fix this problem.

I have a Vizio 47 inch LCD HDTV hooked to a Dish system. The volume fluctuates from very loud to very soft between ads and programs. It also goes from moderate volume to very soft within a program. Help!

Either unplug dish from tv or use the antenna side which is HD and program channels and see if volume the same, if not and is OK then it's your Dish bring your sound down or audio cables bad.

Intermittently my Vizio model e370va volume will rise on its own and get distorted then turn off and in a few seconds, turn on the TV. Visio tried replacing the power board. Same problem. Replaced the TV...

I was having the same issue. I found this on Fixya and it seems to have worked.

Okay I just called and found this out. I have the 32 inch vizio hd flat screen. My problem with weak and fluctuating volume, was that I have a cable box. Go into menu, then audio and under the advanced audio section you will see srs trusurround HD and srs trusurround. Basically this function automatically adjusts volume levels for satelites and whatnot. But because cable boxes automatically have this feature you could just turn off the srs trusurround. Hopefully that should help you.

Vizio tv seems to have trouble with volume certain ch fox and ch 8 need to increase volume a lot also goes black loses sound g Have dishnetWork does true sound have to be off

It would be our pleasure in assisting you with that. We would recommend using our Volume Leveling feature which is available on our ViP222k, ViP612, ViP722k, and ViP922 receivers. Volume Leveling keeps the volume levels consistent between programming and commercials and prevents drastic volume level changes when watching television between HD and SD channels. Start by pressing the "Menu" button then pressing 6 for "System Setup" then 7 for "Audio Output". Select "Enable" below "Volume Leveling" then select "Done" to save these settings. If you're using a ViP922 receiver from the main menu select "Settings", select "Audio Output", and then enable Volume Leveling. This should help with the volume fluctuation issue you have been having. Thank you for being a valued DISH Network customer!

Vizio speakers make a buzzing noise

It's not the speakers. I usually hear of this problem when hooked up to an HD cable box. You can adjust the volume on the cable box and also on the TV. I'll bet you don't have this problem when watching a DVD.

If the problem is what I think it is, your HD Cable box is set at a really low volume while your TV is set to a rather high volume. Try setting the TV volume to around one-third, then set the volume on the cable box until it's as loud as you'd ever want to hear it. With the TV at such a high volume, you're actually amplifying any stray electronic signals that the wires might be picking up, and the above solution will fix that.

Good Luck.
