Everytime I print, I get an error indication on the read-out saying the machine has a paper-size error. I have gone through the reset procedures many times before printing, but this does not seem to help. Also, the first page of any printing run prints too low on the paper, wasting a lot of paper! The only way to solve the paper-size error is the pop the lid or turn off and turn on the printer, then go through all of the warm up procedures again. A great waste of time. I have checked to make sure the paper is set against the black stop at the end of the tray, so the sensor should be able to sense the paper properly. Is this a software problem? I am using a Mac OS 10.7.1 and had the same problem under OS 10.4.11. The care over is frustrating. Arlene

To get rid of error, unplug machine.
Sett. the correct paper size ( size of envelope ), paper type (envelope ), both on printer properties ( when you prompted to print ) and on machine ( when you put envelope on bypass, machine auto ask you ).
Do not forget to tell printer that he needs to take paper from bypass ( printer properties )

CHECK THE PAPER SIZE IN WORD IT SHOULD B EXACT LOADED IN THE MACHINE

So it sounds like the machine is not feeding paper from the paper cassette. This is a common problem.
There are 2 possibilities. 1 easy and one a little tougher. The simple fix is cleaning the paper feed tires. Just pull out the paper cassette, then remove all the paper. You will see 2 felt type pads on the spring loaded metal plate. Spray these 2 pads with some glass cleaner. Dry the metal plate a little then lock the plate down and re-install the cassette without paper! Make sure the lower tray is selected for paper feeding and press the print button. The machine should try to feed a few times then shut down with a P in the display. Reset the P using the clear key then press print again. Repeat this procedure 5 or 6 times. Then remove the tray, dry the pads a bit then re-load the paper, re-install the tray and give it a try. If dirty feed rollers were the cause then this procedure will fix it. the paper size selected on your pc does not match the paper size in your copier.check to see if the sizes match.

i believe that if you update the firmware for the copier, you shoud see that the garbage printing should go away.

You need to make sure that your print sriver setting match the setting on the printer itself.

If setting are changed on the printer itself to envelopes then when you go to print click preferences button on print screen and look for a place to change paper type (usually defaulted to letter size.) Change paper type to envelpoes and click ok. Click ok again on print screen and it should print correctly.

Paper types must be configured the same on the device as well as the print driver installed on the computer.

when you press the 'red' button, it probably says 'paper mismatch, or load "XXX" paper, and you can override it by selecting one of your paper trays manually? It is likely a "legal size document' and you don't have legal size paper loaded, or something along those lines. Try printing the document after manually selecting the paper size/tray (turning off auto paper select) in your printer preferences dialog box on your PC first.

on left side of tray are 3 fingers, for letter size paper bottom 2 are out, next one in. verify slider on bottom of tray is in place. Essentially paper not sensed correctly. print config page and see paper size

When the spanner light and the developer (sun) light are illuminated it is time for a service.
* Try and run the PM Service and drum life counters together.
* Part that are required for a 50,000 copy service (OD 1620 DRUM, D1620 DEVELOPER, BL1620D DRUM BLADE)
* Clean and inspect drum unit.
* Clean all optics and glass.
* Clean and rewire transfer corona.
* Clean and check main charge needle electrode [saw tooth]
* Clean and check fuser units including blades, rollers and scraper fingers.
* Clean erase lamps and ozone filters.
* Clean and check all feed rollers.
* Clean machine inside and out.
* Replace the required parts.
* Reset mini maintenance counters:
* [CLEAR] > [EXPOSURE] > [CLEAR ]> [EXPOSURE] and the machine will die.
* Input [20] [START] [01] [START]“000””000” will flash on the display.
* Reset the drum life counter:
* Input [24] [START] [07] [START] "000"000" will flash on the display
* Reset developer life counter:
* Input [42] [START] [01] [START] “000””000” will flash on the display.
* Once all the part have been replaced and the counters been reset, check the copy quality.
* Notes: Application of the patting powder is for reducing the friction between the drum and cleaning blade. If the application of
patting powder is neglected, the drum and cleaning blade may be damaged. Please clean off the patting powder before putting the
cleaner unit into the machine.
Developing doctor gap adjustment
1) Loosen the developing doctor fixing screw A.
2) Insert a thickness gauge of 1.5mm to the three positions at 20mm and 130mm from the both ends of the developing
doctor as shown.
3) Push the developing doctor in the arrow direction, and tighten the developing doctor fixing screw. (Perform the same
procedure for the front and the rear frames.)
4) Check the clearance of the developing doctor. If it is within the specified range, then fix the doctor fixing screw with
screw lock.
* When inserting a thickness gauge, be careful not to scratch the developing doctor and the MG roller.
CHANGING A TRAY’S PAPER SIZE SETTING
Follow these steps to change a tray’s paper size setting.
* The paper size setting cannot be changed when the machine has stopped temporarily due to running out of
paper or a misfeed, or during interrupt copying.
* During printing (even in copy mode), the paper size setting cannot be changed.
* A5 (ST) size paper can only be selected in upper paper tray.
* Do not load paper that is a different size than the paper size setting. Copying will not be possible.
Hold down the [PAPER SIZE ENTER]
key for more than 5 seconds to
set the selected paper size.
The currently selected
paper feed location
indicator will blink and
the corresponding paper
size (which is currently
set) indicator will light
steadily. All other
indicators will go out.
If the machine has two paper trays,
use the [TRAY SELECT] key to
select the paper tray for which you
wish to change the paper size setting.
Each time the [TRAY
SELECT] key is
pressed, a paper tray will
be indicated with a
blinking paper feed
location indicator.
Use the [ORIGINAL SIZE ENTER] key
to select the paper size.
The indicator of the
selected paper size lights
up.
