Need to format my portable HD (Buffalo 3.5 500GB Mini-station) before using as External HDD for my TV (LG 42LA6200)?

BUFFALO TOOLS Buffalo Tools is a feature-rich suite of optional software included on many Buffalo Drive-Station and Mini Station storage products. Any or all of the following components of Buffalo Tools may be installed on Windows PCs.
Buffalo's Backup Utility is an easy-to-use and fully featured backup software for Windows PCs and can be used to back up one or multiple computers with a single Buffalo external hard drive.ECO Manager is an energy efficiency tool used to conserve energy and reduce battery consumption by regulating the power usage of the hard drive, cutting power to the drive during extended periods of inactivity.RAMDISK is a simple utility that allows you to create a RAM disk on your Windows PC which creates a small, but extremely fast environment to work on files in.SecureLock software for Windows provides complete control of the data encryption on your Buffalo external hard drive, providing password protection and software data encryption.

Only basic external hard drive functionality is supported with this operating system; some included utilities may not work. The HDD default format is NTFS; to work with Mac, reformat the HDD using Mac Disk Utility.

I would plug it into a windows 7 or Vista and the computer's USB. The computer should recognize it. Click start then computer and find the icon for your drive and right click your Icon. In the drop-down window look for 'format' and that should help you format your drive. is a feature-rich suite of optional software included on many Buffalo Drive-Station and Mini Station storage products. File size limit for Buffalo HD 250 GB Hard Drive backup

The file is too large meaning that the size of that SINGLE file is too large. Your hard disk is probably formatted to a FAT32 file system, this results in a maximum of 4gb PER FILE maximum transfer. What you could do is archive it into a few parts using winrar and then moving it onto the disk, and when you need the file just extract the archive. Your problem isn't the total free space, it's the size of that file chunk.

Have recently had to add windows 7 to my PC (losing everything) but have laptop using XP. When I plug buffalo ministation into PC it wants to format but I'll lose everything on harddrive won't

click start control panel administrate tools computer management disk management right click on your drive select properties click tools you should see click check now click start two boxes

automatically fix files and scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors place then a tick in one box then select check now start then after its finished return and tick the other box you should not

do anything while the chkdsk utility is in progress any input may damage this drive
i have found the best results ticking in one box the returning after it has finished then ticking the other box

it might take some time depending on the size of your disk but be patient

hope it helps

I forgot my password for my buffalo hd-pntu3 what will i do i don't want to delete my data

Download the

HDD Unlock Wizard HDD Unlock Wizard v4.2 http://www.filebuzz.com/publisher/download.php?id=98078

HDD Unlock Wizard is a window based utility.

It works as a new life for your locked hard disks, as it is competent to unlock almost all hard disks of major brands available in market.

Its proprietary unlocking algorithms can remove any unknown HDD password and you do not required to give any hint of password as it is not working as a normal password cracker tool.

Removal of a HDD password is a slow process and total time required to remove HDD password is depending on the size of the hard disk and type of hard disk.

A small 2.5" notebook hard disk takes more time as compared to normal Desktop hard disk.

Presently it supports IDE and SATA hard disks.

hope this helps

Hello.. My Buffalo hard-drive just suddenly this morning turned into a FAT32-type format, and i'd like to get it back to default, how do i do this?

Whatever you find out, before you do it, back up your data before you do it, if it still exists. If it's gone, you should be able to just format it and choose the file system you like. Right click the drive and hit format

I have a buffalo external drive. The last time it works is on my auntie's mac laptop, message prompt that i have to reformat the disk. It made me think that files are corrupted. I remove it hoping that...

If the Buffalo had been formatted on a MAC their file format is HPFS and is not compatible with Windows. To be able to exchange data between the Mac and Windows the Buffalo external drive needs to be formatted on Windows XP in FAT 32 (not NTFS). Then the Mac can read and write data on this external drive as well as Windows XP.

Just purchased buffalo ministation and it shows as full

Try this ...
Depending on your operating system, you will need to find the Disk Manager (not the Hardware Manager).
In the Disk Manager you will see your harddrive but possibly no Drive Letter associated with it. It should give you the option to format the disk and assign it a letter.

Bip

use a program called Recova to try and get all possible data off the disc, or try a back up program. then using the formatting program off you buffalo disc do a physical format of the disc (it takes a long time). format your disk. (again it takes a long time) If you want to change from fat32 to nfts right click the disk icon ,select properties, format, chose to format in nfts, select quick format. if all ok re-enter your data. it worked for me.
