I just got my n64 from a friend and it hadn't been used in a while I got a new AV cable. The light does turn red on the n64 but when I plug the n64 into my TV the screen turns black and the rf modulator says its connected for a second but then the screen goes back to its usual fuzzy self when its not connected to anything. The connection last longer when I take out the ram expansion. Also my 360, wii and ps 2 work fine with the tv. The tv is an old box television from the early 2000s. Thank you for all your help

Use the av cables instead of the rf switch because the rf switchs are a pain in the bum then.

2 n64's power on but no sound or video

the contacts that are in the n64 are probably burnt out in the back or the system is not reading the starter/expansion pak cuz mine did the same thing when the starter/expansion pak slot stopped reading.

Nintendo 64 has power but does not work

Bring the console in to Gamestop or Rock30 Games and have them hook it up to their setup and see if it works. They buy sell and trade n64 games and will have a n64 system already set up at the store. Just switch your console and cables with theirs until you find out what is not working for you.

Hi I can't figure out how to get my N64 to work on my samsung flatscreen. My friend showed how to do it a while back but now i've forgotten. I've been told I need a scart cable but I...

Whoever told you you need a scart cable is wrong, The N64 is an old console therefore requires you to plug it in via a standard ariel port. You then should turn you N64 on and search for new channels using your TV menus to either automatically search for them or you can tune your tv manually. either way you will probably need to fine tune afterwards. Hi we just bought a nintendo 64 and plugged everything the red light comes on but when we insert the game it flickers then the screen turns dark green and nothing. We have plugged and replugged, cleaned...

I say your N64 is obsolete at this point. May I suggest playing N64 games on your PC. A rom is a game that is 'ripped' from a game cartridge or cd of a game console (usually a console generation earlier than the second latest.) An emulator is what you run the rom in. The emulator is what allows you to use your mouse, keyboard, etc. to play the game.
http://coolrom.com/ is a great source for roms. You can get roms for the N64, GBA, GBA, GB, GameCube, Nintendo DS and even some sega games! You search for your game, find it in the list of search results and download the game.

My Tv doesn't display the N64 game. No sounds come out also.

What you need to do is, first check the tv av input is working, use a dvd player or any other device with the red, white and yellow plugs.
If it works, the problem may be the nintendo AV cable, they are cheap and worth the few bucks to re live all those nostalgic game moments. If replaceing the AV cable doesnt work, check all the solder joints around the AV socket on the N64 main board. I hope this helps. Good luck.

Which cables do I need to connect my Nintendo64 to my TV? And where do I put them? The tv is an emerson model: ewl20s5 c

the only cord you need to plug into you tv just to play is the input plug (the one that splits into 3 plugs; one yellow, one white, one red).

you also obviously need to plug the nintendo 64 into the wall for power.

this goes for most, if not all video game systems, as long as your not trying to go on the internet

N64 console

If your TV does not have the red, yellow and white RCA jacks on the back for AV hook ups you will have to get an RF switch for the N64. You can find them all over online and you should be able to buy one in a place like Radio Shack.

N64 works but the Picture has loads of static

It sounds like it's most likely a problem with the AV cord you're using to connect to the TV or the ports on the TV where you plug it in. If you can, borrow a friend's AV cable and see if it works, if not then it's either a technical problem elsewhere or it is not hooked up correctly... Also make sure the TV is set to the correct input (Video 1, Video 2, channel 3, etc.)
