Im looking for the total combination for this nuber 13 20 31 36 41 45 permutations i think its called

Do you want combinations or permutations? They're different things. A combination of n items taken m at a time, sometimes written "nCm", selects m items from a group of n without regard to order. A permutation of n items taken m at a time, sometimes written "nPm", selects m items from a group of m with regard to order.

Given six numbers, there are six combinations of one number, 15 combinations of two numbers, 20 combinations of three numbers, 15 combinations of four numbers, six combinations of five numbers, and one combination of six numbers.

Given six numbers, there are six permutations of one number, 30 permutations of two numbers, 120 permutations of three numbers, 360 permutations of four numbers, 720 permutations of five numbers, and 720 permutations of six numbers.

If the order of the tree digits matter:
9!/6! = 504

If the order doesn't matter:
9!/(6!*3!) = 84

For more info, research combinations and permutations

I have a TI-84 Plus and I'm working with the factorial key - I continue to get an overflow error for items such as 88!2! please help

The calculator's memory is limited. The largest number it can handle is about 10^100 and that is a bit more then 69!

It you are trying to calculate the permutation and/or combinations, which involve the ratios of factorials nPr=n!/(n-r)! and nCr= n!/((n-r)!r!) you will have better luck using the relevant commands directly and not use the above divisions.

When you are calculating ratios by hand (why would you do that? you might ask) there is a simple trick you can take advantage of. It involves expanding the factorial in the numerator as in the following example:
Calculate 7!/4!=7*6*5*4!/4!=7*6*5=210.

How do i calculate combinations

Your calculator has three keys, next to which are the following markings:n! , nCr, and nPr. The one with the exclamation point is for factorials. The second is for combinations, and the third with permutations.
Syntax of the command.
If the markings are on the keys, the functions are accessed directly. If the markings are on the body of the calculator, you access the functions by pressing SHIFT and the key.

12 [!] gives 12 factorial
12 [nCr] 4 gives the combinations of 12 objects taken 4 at a time (order not important)
12 [nPr] 4 gives the permutations of 12 objects taken 4 at a time (order is important.)

I'm trying to learn Permutations and Combinations in my Algebra class and it gives us generic formulas like nPr=n!over(n-r)! and nCr=n!overr!(n-r)! and I was wondering how I'm supposed to do those. I was...

Yes, your calculator can do them. Press the PRB key to bring up the Probability menu. Among them you'll find nPr and nCr for permutations and combinations, as well as ! for the factorial.

To compute 4C2, press 4 PRB right-arrow 2 ENTER. Permutations work the same way, only without the right-arrow.

How to do nPr or nCr on TI-30x Solar (scientific calc.)

If you have an older version on the TI30x Solar (not TI30Xa or newer) then you must use a different key sequence for nPr/nCr.

52 [2nd][x/y] 5 [2nd][nCr] gives 2598960 (the x/y button is above the Pi symbol on my version).
8 [2nd][x/y] 3 [2nd][nPr] gives 336

This took me forever to find out, so hopefully it will help someone!

How do i use my ti 84 plus to solve problems with the gauss jordan method, to obtain the cofactors of a matrix, and many oder operations with matrices

Hello,
The matrix Math tools, are accessed by pressing [2nd][MATRIX] ->>[MATH]. Scroll the list to find all row permutations, etc.
Sorry but you will have to implement your Gauss-Jordan method yourself, and interactively.
Hope it helps.

Permutation and combination

Permutation : Permutation means arrangement of things. The word arrangement is used, if the order of things is considered.
Combination: Combination means selection of things. The word selection is used, when the order of things has no importance.
