to connect up digital decoder set-top box.
The TV only has an RF input. No other input plugs. Just the antenna plug. Searched all 80 channels and I cannot find an AV channel on the Telefunken to receive the digital decode. There does not appear to be a channel 0 as the selector goes straight from 80 to "1".
How is AV input to his set accomplished?

Hi,

The simplest solution would probably be the use of an RF Modulator. Feed the RF Mod with the A/V signals from the Conia CSTB12, set it to transmit on Ch 3 or 4, tune the Telefunken to either channel.

In most Telefunken TVs we have worked on, the A/V INput/OUTput would be on the SCART connectors as shown below.
Telefunken analogue color TV model - 9775210.jpg
To my understanding, a Conia CSTB12 as sold in Australia has a composite RCA (yellow) Video OUTput and L/R White/Red audio OUTputs. What would be needed would be a A/V signal to SCART adapter/converter.
7906648.jpg
If your Conia CSTB12 has an S-Video, then this may be used.
If your Conia CSTB12 has an HDMI, then something like this may be used.
Incidentally, should you be interested, there are comparable receivers to a Conia CSTB12 that has SCART OUTputs.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

it might be an analogue only receiver.

If it is Analogue only you may need to use a digital TV decoder unit to convert Digital TV to Analogue TV . Check inputs available like RCA inputs as some decoders have RCA outputs or HDMI inputs ?

Hint: giving a make and model number for your tv would be very helpful in specific answering of your question.

How do I connect my smart TV JVC LT-43N5105 108cm to my decoder with the red white and yellow connector cable?

I don't know but surely if your tv has an option for analogue inputs there will be a range of sockets for the job - phono and/or scart.
If the sockets are there connecting will be intuitive.

Many modern tv sets are compatible only with boxes, converters, decoders and media players that provide a digital output. Analogue to digital converters are available but I can't comment about how successful they are.

I suggest you revisit the user manual of your tv.

I have a Toshiba older TV that doesn't have HD digital converter box I bought a leaf ultimate antenna do I still need to use the converter box with this new antenna

if the tv does not have a built in hd digital tuner you need a Hd digital converter to analogue converter. What you need to be careful about is the available inputs on the TV if it only has AV in then you need a converter that transmits out RCA video or an analogue tv channel on RF the tv can tune into. Some of the new converters have HDMI out so if TV does not have HDMI input it won't connect. The antenna would go into the converter. Not sure how much signal you need you may need an rf amplifier if the signal is poor in your area.

How do I connect my TEVLON hdd dvd to strong decoder

why would you want to connect a hdd dvd to the strong decoder. Wouldn't you connect it to a television via the hdd dvd av output into the av input of the tv and then switch the telivision on input source to AV1 .
You did not mention the model number of the strong decoder but is this a digital tv to Analogue TV decoder.?
you might also have HDMI output and HDMI input on the devices .
That would be better to use if it exists. If you only have one AV input on the TV use a AV switch box and switch between the decoder and the HDD dvd device using

The TV probably defaults to the RF channels. If it is an analogue only tuner model then it will go to the last used/programmed RF channel.

How do I connect the set top box to analogue television

What type of set top box? What outputs are available on the box and what inputs are on the TV?

For a basic OTA digital to analog converter, you put the antenna coaxial cable to the antenna in of the box. Then either connect the coax out to the TV's antenna in (set the tv and the box to Channel 3 or 4) or connect the composite out to the composite in of the TV (set the TV to the AV source).

For a set top box that has a composite out and a TV that only has a coaxial input, you need to add a RF modulator. Something like this: http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2103095 . If you have a composite input on the TV, use the composite cable directly; the modulator will decrease the signal strength.

There are other converters for component out to composite video. See http://www.svideo.com/ypbpr2svideo.html . Going from a digital source (HDMI) to analog can be done but the resulting signal is poor compared to the original. Also DHCP content will not be transferred. See http://www.gefen.com/gefentv/gtvproduct.jsp?prod_id=5280 for an example.

I hope this helps. Please add a comment with the specifics of your set top box and tv for the best choice for your situation.

Just installed a sky magic eye to my digital tv upstairs, works perfect. however I have now lost all my digital channels!!

Hi

If you have installed a sky magic eye, i am assuming you have taken a sky feed from the RF outlet of the back of the sky box to view sky in another room, if this is the case, this is an analogue feed which you would have to tune in manually to the second tv, this would suggest that you havent lost the digital signal you just have you second tv selected on analogue. On the assumption your system is connected like the following;

Sky box connections

Main aerial input
sky sat input
rf out to second tv

Can you tell me how to tune in a channel when ppreparing to use a freeview box on a onyx sw 1536 ld

Unless you've got an "expensive" Freeview box that modulates its output on to the RF (Aerial) connector then you can't. Most Freeview boxes have 2 aerial connectors - 1 IN from the Aerial itself and 1 OUT to connect to the TV - BUT this is ONLY a PASS-THROUGH connection. This means that the digital Freeview signal which is decoded from the aerial signals is NOT output on the OUT connector and sent down the co-axial cable to your TV. Only the "old" ANALOGUE (not Freeview NON DIGITAL) comes down that co-ax. What you should do is connect the Freeview box to your TV with a SCART cable via the SCART connectors on both. You need to select the AV input on the TV using the remote.
Even if you do have an "expensive" box that does modulate the digital decoded programmes and output these of the RF OUT connector, you should still use a SCART cable as the picture produced will be far better
Hope this helps
