Suddenly my flash will not pop up. I hadn't used the camera for a couple months. Got it out, charged the batteries, and while checking it out, noticed the Flash wouldn't pop up. I haven't dropped it, or been rough handling it. Very strange indeed. I have used it very infrequently over the past 2 years since I bought it. Can someone help please??? Thanks, RandyT
Sorry but I have a 770 in front of me and it definitely doesn't have an auto popup flash the flash release button is on the rear towards the top and adjacent to the button marked with the flash sign and key. It's strictly manual. If this Button isn't working it means the mechanism is broken. I've had plenty of cameras where the flash wouldn't close but never one which wouldn't open. Try pushing the button and gently pry the flash open with a fine bladed screwdriver or something similar. If it won't open with a little gentle coaxing either strip the covers off and have a look or take it to a repair Shop. The only answer I can think of is the spring loaded release has lost it's tension. Or there's a breakage with the button. BMW

Hi Randy, It seems like the problem could be the settings. Try to set the flash manually, and then try to pop it up. If this doesn't work, and since the pop up flash release is electronic, have the camera cleaned at a camera shop. This would be a small price to pay if it works, and would be worth it for such a great camera. Please let me know if this works for you. Best regards, nightdiver

My Flash will not pop up.
Thanks BMWRIDER, your solution worked. Apparently, the Flash was jambed, 'just-a-bit-, because it fits so tightly
when closed. I used a thin bladed scalpel, applying just a little upward pressure under the left front edge, while pushing on the flash button, and BINGO it poped up. And
has ever since.
Thanks Again,
RandyT
