After I changed my ink cartridge when I try to print the paper is hitting something and won't go down into the printer far enough to print. I think it's hitting the ink holder that slides inside and the paper is kinked when I take it out.

  • robinson_455 Sep 10, 2011

    It's Epson Ink, and I double checked to make sure it was together properly. I have had this printer for 5 years and this has never happened. The paper is hitting something before it can scroll far enough down to be printed on.

  • robinson_455 Sep 10, 2011

    Thanks for your advice, but I guess I will either have to take it to a specialist or replace it. There is nothing blocking the paper. I think it's the machine malfunctioning.

Hi there,

Did you use a replacement ink cartridge or is it an original Epson cartridge? The only way that it will do this is if the cartridge is not seated properly or cartridge that you installed is intended for another model.

Try to reseat and review your cartridge model. Post your observations here.

    Ok. Try to check for any small paper that is lodge on the paper feed mechanism. Roll the rollers gently and clean them up. You can also use a thin plastic strip to and let the printer eat it through. This should push any blockage on the feed path.

How do I fix HP LaserJet P1606dn printing issue? it continues to print vertical line/ smudge on the far left of the printed document. Does anyone have any suggestion regarding this issue?

The smudges on the side of the paper is most likely a piece of something rubbing against the paper just after the printer puts the ink on the paper. Inspect as much as possible the path that paper takes. Look at rollers. Anything that grab the paper. Look for ink and dust build up. As for the vertical lines. Could be several things. I you haven't used you printer for awhile the ink in the nozzle could of dried up. Most new printers have a nozzle cleaning function. Try that it a couple of times. See if that helps. If it shows any sign of change after that, it dried up ink. It's a hassle to try to get the ink flowing again. I normally just to replace the cartridges. Let me know if this helps or not.

Error message that paper jam in paper cradle

Try this:
  • open the lid of the printer (from where you can see the ink cartridges);
  • remove the ink cartridges;
  • use warm water and cotton swabs to clean both the ink cartridges and the print head (where the cartridges sit on) off of any ink residue;
  • place the ink cartridges back into the printer and test if this works by printing something.

If you're still having issues, there may be a mechanical problem; in which case you need to get it repaired by someone.

Good luck!

I have ink in my printer but when i hit print it wont print anything out, just a blank sheet of paper

Hi,
If you didn't used your inkjet printer for a long time the most common problem is that the nozzles of the cartridges are clogged with ink, so no ink can go down to the paper and that's why you see a blank sheet of paper. The other option is that you think you have ink in the cartridges but in fact it was finished.
I suggest you to replace the cartridges.
Hope this helps

Hello Cindy Wells, I saw you on Fixya.com and I am having a bit of a problem with my Canon PIXMA MP490. Basically every time I try to print something the printer will start working (i can hear it...

hi there,

it may be that a paper sensor is picking up a small piece of paper in the printer. Has any paper ever torn in the printer? if so there may be some left behind. Carefully inspect the printer to see if there is any small pieces of paper in the printer. You could also try unplugging all cables and taking the outer cover off to inspect closer.

Re the ink cartridges, inkjet printers are notorious for ink drying out in the cartridges and the nozzles blocking with old ink, if the printer is not used at least once a week. It happened to me, i had to get a new printer.

Hope this helps

Just changed ink cartridges and unable to use printer. Keeps stating printhead missing or has come loose but it isn't. Before this happened, wouldn't print the black ink after I'd installed...

Hello

Your printhead is bad and you should have it replaced. This should cost you about $56 if you are in the US

Also you should reolace all the waste ink absorbers, reset the counter to zero and re-insert the ink cartridges.

To replace the ink cartridges

1. Hit the "menu": Key
2. Hit "Copy" Key
3. Hit "#" Key
4. Scroll thru the menu headings until you come to "Test Mode" - 12th heading
5. Hit the "3" button- this will bring up Eprom Clear
6. Hit "0" button
7. Hit the "Stop" button

My HP deskjet 2050 all-in-one printer only shoots out blank paper and won't print. It used to say there was no paper in it, which there was. It scans & prints just fine - just won't print...

Any error messages on the printer digital screen or the desktop? I take it the "The ink is fine" means that there is ink in the cartridges!

Try a test print via the Control Panel> Printers and Faxes> properties > Print test page.

We changed the ink and the red light and green

Some times you need to find the epson tools that comes on the CD to reset the printer. If you have upgraded the computer you may need to update your drivers at the epson sight.
Once you have opened the epson tools try cleaning the print heads.
then it should reset the inking system to default and read the new cartridges. If this doesn't work try shutting down the printer and removing the ink cartridges, restart the printer and allow it to find no cartridges the go through the process of reloading the ink cartridges again and cycle the printer.

If this doesn't work you may need to try and find a cleaning cartridge for the print heads. Since the printers always check to see if ink is getting to the print heads if there is no ink flow it will always come up like there are no ink cartridges installed.

Hope this helps

Make sure paper is in properly they can be very picky about that.
Try turning it off wait three minutes and turn back on.
Then
Push Paper refill button Wait for cycle and see if paper light stays off if so...
Push the ink button

Balck ink not working

This is what worked (so far) with my Dell1.gif AIO A940 printer1.gif that wouldn't print black ink.

It worked for awhile when I chose photo/glossy paper, but then it quit printing again (see below).

PRINT, PROPERTIES, PAPER SETUP, SPECIALTY PAPER, PHOTO/GLOSSY

I got it to print, again, by putting SEVERAL papers in the feeder (instead of just 1) - there is a sensor that is supposed to automatically detect paper type, and it might not be working right, especially with one or only a couple of sheets.
