Question about Philips 55PP9363 55" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television
When trying to turn our TV on either by the on/off button or remote, it sounds like it's coming on and then goes right back off.
Sounds like a common problem where the Horizontal Output Transistor shorts due to heat, loading by a partially shorted flyback or yoke or old dried heat sink compound. If the HOT is ok then there is probably a short in another component. This can be determined in most cases by isolating each module one at a time. In other words disconnect the audio circuit and try, disconnect each crt separately, etc. If no shorts are determined check the power supply for proper output voltages. All this would need to be done by a tech or someone familiar with the process. Repair cost should not be that much compared to the cost of a new set.

It sounds like the High Voltage is having a problem. I had the same problem and it ended up costing about $250 to fix the high voltage from a TV repairman

I have just had the same problem with a SP47W3HFX and when I took the back of and switched on with the remote I saw two what looked like diodes arching and fizzing on the left (from front) tube's circuit board, when I unplugged, waited and then touched the curcuit board to unplug the ribbon cable and see if it would run on two tubes/lamps, the bottom part with the coil, etc came away from the upper part. new tube needed, parts anyone? What else could have been damaged?
