We were watching a movie when suddenly the picture and sound went away. When the tv is on you can hear a steady clicking noise. Is this something that will cost a lot to fix? We have a 52" magnavox rear porjection tv. Please help as much as you can.
If you are a qualified technician then you can try removing the flyback transformer FBT and have it check thru a flyback checker from any electronic repair shop. You will be able to confirm whether you have a problem in the high voltage section. Which would likely is the case. If FBT is OK look for a shortgae in the horizontal section specially the horizontal output transistor. good luck

Re: No Picture no sound.
This fault sounds like a high voltage shutdown or the high voltage fault. It is not a repair thst a regular handyman should attempt to repair unless they have electronic background. I you want to attemtp yjr repair yourself and you understand the technical lingo then you can get a schematic diagram and start to troublrshoot the horizontal out section and move your way through to the main power supply but I bet you find a short in the first place I said Good Luck

It's obvious that the power supply failed. The most common parts in a power supply are a thermistor or a voltage rectifier, possibly even a voltage regulator. diodes or resistors can act as fuses too. A ringing sound can come from a fixed coil that isn't kept still with enough epoxy. Hope this helps.

Your color wheel needs to be changed. Mine just did the same thing. I changed mine, and the buzzing sound went away, however now my picture washes out with light or yellow colors. The darks look green and purple also.
it sounds to me a transformer in your set has gone hard to say witch. im guessing it is a CRT set the best thing i could suggest would be to take it to your local tv repair shop they should be able to sort this for you and it shouldn't be to expensive.
