Hello Dale, The problem is that there is a small, less than 1 cm rectangular magnet, embedded in the slide cover just to the right side of the "HP" logo and above the "M22" marking, the magnet activates a metallic reed switch on the circuit board when the slide is move to the right to "turn on" the camera and take pictures also exposing the lens. When the slide is moved to the left, the reed switch contacts are off. This would be an easy fix for a camera shop (as long as you tell them what the problem is) and they would not be able to overcharge you with the knowledge you now have... This is a great camera, and would be well worth the fix. Let me know how it goes. Best regards, nightdiver

Nikon s9300 - When I turn it on, the lense fully extends, but the screen stays black. I have to pop the battery out, then put back in for the lense to retract. Battery is fully charged and even tried

When the battery is fully charged, please put it in again. That means, if it is still in, remove it once again.
Switch it on, and even if you don't see a thing try to make a picture.
Then press the display button several times, to see if anything comes on the screen again.
If the camera does not respond after that, you should go back to the dealer, of contact Nikon.

My camera won't turn on, changing the batteries/cleaning the contacts hasn't helped. It was fine last night, and i can't see how it would've been knocked or damaged, i was careful!

Here are the steps for the no power problem: 1. Make sure you will install a new or fully charged battery/batteries into your camera. Please use lithium batteries Ni-Mh or rechargeable Batteries (2000 M.Amp or higher). 2. Clean the battery contacts. a. Remove the battery/batteries and the memory card from your camera, then wipe the battery contacts with a soft, clean cloth. b. Reinstall the battery/batteries into your camera 3. Turn on your camera without the memory card. (If it works then it?s your memory card that is faulty)

My compaq presario c500 doesn't respond to the start button

try to turn on the laptop without the battery and only the power cord plug in.

if your laptop works with this you need new battery or update bios ( there might be fix for battery monitor)

if not, call service support, might be motherboard issue

let me know an update

No power

Look for an airtight container, find a silica gel or dehumidifier, a dry charcoal may also do the trick, you may also roast dry some corn kernels or rice and put in the airtight container and place your battery or camera inside to dehumidify it. You can use a plastic bag and just seal it. This will take moisture out of your unit and its battery.

My Lumix TZ1 stopped working

Simple solution. I recharged the camera battery and the camera came back to life. I wasn't expecting it to, because the battery was fully charged when I had connected it to the computer, so I figured the problem was not battery-related. Apparently keeping the camera connected to the computer for such a long time drains all the power in the camera battery.

Battery charge

I called Kodak last night, they told me to turn the camera off, then remove the batteries and the memory card then wait ten seconds then reinstall both. Then turn the camera back on.... IT WORKED~ try it!!
