Hi i have just bought a Canon W8200 wide format printer but i cant get my pc to talk to the printer. I have just done an ipconfig on my pc and i have found my ip address, the submask and the default gateway. when i put these values in the into the printer it will not print. I was told that when i put the ip address in the printer to change the last digit but to keep it in the same range, so i changed 2 to 3 on printer and still no joy. i have also tried a ping and i am getting timed out messages. i have tried crossover cables too and still no good. I cannot consult manuals as it was bought second hand and i did not get any installation software, but have downloaded the drivers from canon. i also have tried running through a wirelss router but yet again still no joy. any intructions to solve this problem would be appreciated and even though i'm not a computer whizz i can work my way around a pc (just) i am running windows xp thanks
FIRST GO HERE http://www.usa.canon.com/opd/controller?act=OPDSoftwareAct&fcategoryid=2333&modelid=9506 GET THE DRIVER AND THE SETUP UTILITY THEN HOOK UP THE PRINTER TO THE ROUTER THEN YOUR GOOD.

hi
thanks for your help but still no joy.
got a little bit further on the driver install as the w8200 came up in a "add printer" window.
when i used the utility program i had to re-input the ip,subnet mask and g/w default back in to the printer menu.
I did a ping on ip,subnet mask and g/w default which test ok, but the ip that printer is set to, i get timed out messages.
i have tried all combinations of crossover cable and normal ethernet cable. i have tried direct from pc to printer and through a netgear wireless router with both cables.
any more ideas?
thanks in advance
