Question about Hitachi 27CX22B 27" TV

Hitachi 27CX22B-501 Entire screen has a greenish tint. menu colour adjustments do nothing.

You did not say whether it is bright, overdriven with retrace lines in it. I've have seen what I just described in Magnavox (common) and Zenith TVs. If you're unit looks like what I just described it could be one of the following problems. The fix for the Magnavox was a 10 ohm safety resistor in the green drive circuit (on CRT board). For the zenith it was the drive transistor on the main circuit board prior to the gun but after the video IC. In either case you will need an O-Scope to signal trace the video circuit to find the culprit. If this is within your expertise go for it, safely of course. If not, get a professional to do it.

The colour has orange and yellow tones I cant remove
Have you tried cleaning the screen? I smoke cigars, so I have to go around compressed-airing and wiping stuff down constantly. Screens look yellow/orange if I let it go too long.

Cannot boost yellow on screen
A few suggestions here--first if possible look into the lens of the tubes with set on--is one brighter than the two others? A loss of blue to some degree would mean yellow (red and green).

Also ( you may have to remove entire grill from front below screen) with set off make sure all 3 of the circuit boards that plug onto the bottom of the necks for each tube are not loose or one has not slid down a bit.

Green tint
Go to a channel that is in black and white and turn color all the way off.

Screen should be a black and white or gray color.

If green there is a fairly easy way to adjust--let me know what you find and I will tell you how to attempt the adjustments.

should be a setting in the menu for changing the green colour on the screen, should be able to adjust green blue and red to get perfect picture settings for the user.

This is what you're going to do, Turn on the Tv and go to the service manual, if the green tint is still there, you have a defective dmd board, but if it's no there, then you have an issue with your video board

My tv also has a green tint..
Is the T.V old, or second hand? Or does the picture look dimmer then you think it should be? If so then it could be that the lamp in the projector is coming to the end if its life. The lamps in projector tend to make the image on screen a greenish colour along with a dimmer look once it needs changing. It dosent just pack in though, it will stay like that for a while, but wont get any better. There could be a way of seeing how many hours the lamp has got left before being replaced on the T.Vs menu screen?

the light polarizer on the blue lcd panel is fried due to excessive dust and heat. you'll have to replace the entire optical engine.

50V715 HITACHI -GREENISH TINT -
Solution for the Hitachi 50V715. I contacted Hitachi and they told me there is a problem with the color engine with this and other Hitachi models. They will replace the part for free, but first I need to take it to a repair shop to verify the problem and I have to pay labor. Not too bad considering the cost of the engine.
