Re: Cant record but can playback!!!
Yeppers sorry to tell ya clare321 but the small capacitors inside the camera portion of the camera sounds like they are starting to leak and break down. This is a very common problem with most camcorders and they still use those pesky pana caps. If your lucky maybe they(the Caps) didnt eat away and distroy the Printed circuit board yet but it will in a matter of time. you should get this into a repair shop asap as this is not a repar for a handyperson. Good luck

Hi, I'm Sony tech and can help you to solve problem of CCD-TR818 camcorder. Tap bottom of camcorder few times with your palm gently, now check playback of tape. If problem still not solved, let me know what error code flashing on top right of view finder screen. Thanks.
OK, if camcorder playback old recordings properly and does not show live image in camera mode then it gets ccd imager chip failure problem. CCD Imager chip will be replaced in camcorder to get live view in camera mode for recording. Let me know exact model number of your Sony camcorder written at bottom of camcorder for more info. Thanks.
My advice is that you should by a cleaning cassette. Put this in the camera and run it for 10 to 20 seconds only. running the cleaning cassette for a long time may damage the head. good luck! Luwangula
