Re: problems with turning on
Sounds like it may be the index in your Music Library. Try going into Recovery Mode the routine way; remove battery(are they charged and good?), hold power switch to ON, replace battery, release power switch when the Recovery Mode screen appears on the screen. Run Option 1 CleanUP, after it completes run Option 4 Restart/Reboot. You will get a Rebuilding Library screen when it reboots, that's normal, then it should go back to your startup screen.

2 Press and hold the Play/Pause.Continue to hold the Play/Pause button until you perform Steps 3 and 4.If you accidentally release the button, start the procedure again.
3 Gently push the end of a thin object (like a pin or straightened paperclip) into the Reset hole. The reset button for the ZEN Mozaic is located on the left side of the player, with the menu buttons facing you.
4 Slide the On/Off/Lock switch towards the power button and hold until the display lights up. The Recovery Mode screen appears, and four menu items are shown: Clean Up, Format All, Reload Firmware and Reboot. From here you should be able to choose to reload the firmware.
First of all, I hope you mad a backup of it's content, becouse there is no other way, it need to be fomated from it's service menu.
1. Make sure bthat your Zen is turned off and has a full battery. 2. Press and hold the Play/Pause button and Back/Options button simultaneously. 3.The Recovery Mode screen appears when the player, and three menu items are shown: Clean Up, Format and Reboot. 4.Format your ZEN and then do a clean up. 5. When done reboot. 6. Hook it up to your computer an reflash to the latest firmware, you can download the tool here to flash your firmware: http://ccfiles.creative.com/ManualDn/Applications/PDE/10398/0x8CCCF7FC/CT-RT_PCAPP_2_00_05.exe
First off, download the Firmware upgrade from Creative (http://support.creative.com/downloads/welcome.aspx?nDriverType=4#type_4)
Don't run it just yet!
Now, go into the Zen Micro's Recovery Mode:
1. Take out the battery 2. Press and hold the ON/LOCK button in the ON position (far left) and put the battery back in the player. 3. The player will then switch on - wait until "Recovery Mode" appears on the screen then let go of the ON/LOCK button.
The Recovery Mode options include an option to "Reload Firmware".
Now connect your Zen Micro to your PC and run the Firmware upgrade. Your player should be recognized by the Firmware uploader. If it isn't, then then your player has other damage.
The recovery tool mentioned above is not designed for the sleek photo. You need to download the firmware for the sleek photo from creative's site. Now we need to get your player recognized to get the firmware loaded. If you have Windows Media Player 11, it needs to be removed. Also remove WMP runtime. After that, restart the pc and your player should be recognized. You can then double click on the firmware program to run it. It might say something like, this firmaware is already installed...do you want to reload it? Click yes to reload.
I had the same problem with my sleek photo. Once I got rid of WMP and the runtime everything worked like a charm.
Hi! I think you should try this (i've already tried it and it works):
1- Unplug your Zen from your Computer.
2-Turn off your Zen (if you can't do it, press the "Reset" button)
3- BEFORE turning on your Zen, press your "Play" button and hold it while you turn on.
4-When a format menu appears, select the "Format All" option (you'll loose all your Zen data).
5-When the format menu reapears, select the "Reboot" option and listo!
You have your Zen as new and should not have problem. Good luck!
Have you tried to load the firmware? First you'll need to download the firmware to your PC from Creative's website: Click here. After you've downloaded it, connect your Zen via USB to your PC and open the firmware icon, then click "Upgrade."
