My 2.5 yr old Whirlpool S20EFII23A side by side fridge freezer has stopped producing ice. On the advice of an engineer I was advised to turn the freezer off for two day incase there was a blockage in the pipe sending water to the ice maker, this did not resolve the problem. I have no faith in the engineer and think I am going to have to try and solve the problem myself. I just want to make sure if a new part is required that it is the correct part. Other discussion forums have mentioned motor modules and icemaker thermostat problems as possible solutions for similar problems. When the icemaker button is activatived I can hear a clicking noice as if the water is attempting to flow but there is no movement in the icemaker compartment. The sensors appear to fuctioning fine. Can anyone help?

I understand that your Frigidaire refrigerator, model# FRS26R4A, is not making ice. There are a couple of things you can check. First, check the wire signal arm to make sure it is in the "down" or ON position. The ice maker turns off automatically when the ice container becomes full. To stop the ice maker, lift the wire signal arm until it clicks, and locks in the "up" or OFF position. Second, check to see if the water dispenser is dispensing. You might need to change your water filter. It's recommended you change it every 6-8 months. The other thing if your appliance is not dispensing water is there might be a kink in the hose or maybe the water supply has been cut off. Hope this has been helpful.
The shut off arm is in up position. This is the off position for the ice make. Try pulling the down to the first level this will engage the micro switch to start the ice maker. Also, behind the ice maker is a 4 wire plug remove the plug and see if there were some electrical arcing. But first before removing the ice make plug--Please unplug the refrigerator first before work on the ice maker. stewbison
Hi, If your ice maker has stopped making ice then you need to check these things. The lever that controls the ice maker has been pushed
up which turns it off. If you have a red lever, pull it down to the
wire and if you just have a wire then just pull down the wire to start
your ice maker up. Make sure the freezer temperature is below 10 degrees
F If the freezer is too warm ice production will be poor because the
ice maker will not cycle properly. The ice maker fill tube may have ice formed in it,
blocking it. Use a hair dryer to melt the ice. Watch out for the
plastic parts, so that you do not melt the plastic. Also check the
water inlet valve and the shut off valve, to make sure it is not
plugged with debris. The openings in those valves are very small. Check the gears in the ice makers to see if they are
broken or stripped. Also look to see if the ice rake is broken. All
parts in the ice maker are replaceable individually, If you find broken
parts replace them.
this is a test, if its a new er model, turn maker switch off for 15 seconds, turn on move the flap arm below the maker bak and forth 3 times waite 3 min, this should reset maker
You will need to install an inline filter on the water line going to your ice maker. The city water pipes have minerals and dirt in them that cause the problems. The dirt gets in the ice maker and clogs it up.
Please check whether the ice maker has been turned off. Here's how to check.
Look for a wire along the right side of the ice maker that looks a bit like a coat hanger. If this wire is in the raised position, the ice maker is turned off. On some units you simply lower the wire to the down position to turn the ice maker on. On others, you lower a small red plastic lever to lower the wire. If the wire is in the proper position check the freezer temperature, it should be between 0-8 degrees Fahrenheit. If it is warmer than 10-12 degrees, the ice maker may not produce any ice. Check your door seals and thermostat, repair/replace as necessary.
Please do accept this solution and revert for further assistance.
hi my name is mark, do you have a water filter on this unit. shut off water to ice maker. remove water line from ice maker, hold water line in a bucket slowly turn on water. if you get water. then the fill solinoid has failed. if you do not get water trace water line back to water shut off. if it is the solinoid valve. you will need model and serial number to order part
The
refrigerator has a duel water valve, one for the ice-maker and one
for the water dispenser (if equipped). The valve that
the ice-maker relies on may be bad, or it could be the ice-maker itself. Another thing that could cause it would be
the temperatures in the freezer. The ice-maker will not
call for water until it reaches under 15 degrees. In addition, check
the water tube behind the ice-maker to make sure it is not frozen, blocking
more water from entering. The water does not go to the ice-maker or
thru the filter unless the ice-maker turns on the water valve.
if you already checked this and think
it is a different problem then let me know, i will help you figure it out. Mike
