I have an hp lj 4+ that is giving me error code service 50. Any ideas what could be wrong? Would I be better off replacing it? and if so what is a reliable yet inexpesive printer that could replace it.
Thank you,
Heather

I could not find a scanner error 2.
But frequently the scanners in these units require replacement. Unless you have it under maintenance contract the cost of repairs could be prohibitive in a unit this old.
Here is the service manual if it will help you define your problem better. https://www.printertec.com.br/arquivos_download/3050.pdf
An error 50 on most HP Laserjet printer indicates the fuser has a problem. Most common problem is the heat lamp burned oou. The lamp is not a replaceable item unless you re a top notch technician. The fusing assembly however is usually a relatively easy replacement requireing only twisting of a couple of latches or removal of a couple of phillips screws.
The part # for the fusing asm for the HP LJ 3030 is RM1-0865-000CN.
These can readily be found online for anywheres from $120 to $250.
That's a main motor error, something could be jammed in transport, or a generic toner cart. that is too hard to turn, try powering on with toner removed...
