Change the belt in my kenmore power-mate 120 amps...how to open it to get to where the belt is???

Do you need the belt or the directions for changing the belt? To replace the belt, you need to remove the light cover and then the light bulb. Press in the sides of the cover and lift to remove it. the bulb needs to be pushed in and then turned couter-clockwise. Remove the cover screws. Then flip over the Power Mate and use the flat blade screwdriver to release both tabs. Turn the Power Mate back to right side up and press on the handle quick release pedal and lower the swivel. Tilt the cover forward until it snaps free. Carefully, use your screwdriver to pop the brush supports free on both sides to remove the brush. Slide off the old belt. (If needed, slide off the brush supports and washers. Clean the brush before reassembling the unit. Then replace the brush supports and washers.) Push the belt on motor drive and then onto the brush sprocket. Push the brush supports back into place on the base. (Make sure that this isn't assembled upside down.) Then line up the front of the cover with the base and tilt the cover back into place. Press firmly until you hear both sides click into place. Replace the cover screws, light bulb and bulb cover.

The top part of the nozzle pops off just put small screw driver on side and lift up under the top lid is 2 screws then pop off by putting screw driver on sides to lift the housing off base plate

Just pulled mine apart and the bearing on the belt side is toast. In the past five years I have had several items fail due to less then optimal bearings. Including a transmission in a Vibe and a front load washing machine.

I am not 100% sure of the model number but most of their powerheads come apart quite easily if you know how. There is a light lens cover on the top of your powerhead. On each side of this cover there is a little clip that holds it in place. You can usually see that spot by simply taking your thumb and pushing the light cover to one side or the other. Place a small flat head screwdriver in that slot and gently pry upward.

Once that cover is off, you will see two screws. Remove those two screws. Now simply grab each side of the cover towards the bottom and back of the nozzle and pull out. This should release it from the base. It will lift from forward from back to front..

Reassembly is pretty easy. Just reverse the instructions.

I prefer online ordering as long as shipping is cheap, that way it comes right to the house and I don't spend time running around looking for it. There are even "how to" instructions online.

I wasn't able to find the manual for the Kenmore model, however I did find the instruction manual for the corresponding Panasonic canister vacuum cleaner. Your particular Kenmore model is actually made by Panasonic for Sears, and then Sears puts the Kenmore name on the vacuum cleaner. They are identical internally, and have the same parts and components, besides the filter that is behind the bag. Sears makes Panasonic put a specially designed filter in the Kenmore's so that the customer has to go back and purchase that filter from Sears.

What you see from the outside is usually a pop up button which sits on top of the actual internal switch remove the lid of the power mate as though you are cleaning the brush roll or changing the belt. Then test the reset internally. Post back to advise .

I am getting suction to the power mate, but the mate doesn't
work. The belt seem fine, but the light and beater doesen.t
go on. Tried the reset - no result. Thanks
