HP LaserJet 2430 Printer Will Not Print since USB Power Surge Error

INSUFFICIENT POWER - USB PORT
If you get an error message "Insufficient power to operate USB device" when you plug a USB device into the computer's USB port or the un-powered USB hub that is attached to the computer's USB port, then this device is drawing excessive current that the USB port cannot supply. The maximum output from an USB port is 500mA. In case such as this, you need to purchased a powered USB hub and connect this hub into the computer's USB port and then connect the USB device into this powered USB hub.

Compaq dc 7600 small form factor, front usb and audio not recognized

Hello,
I am assuming you have moved the board to another case and have connected front-mounted card readers etc. but none are working. I would check in device manager and see if there are any devices with exclamation points beside them.....which would indicate that windows sees the device, but that you are missing some of the drivers for the board which can be downloaded from HP. If you have devices in device manager that are labelled "unknown device", then a program like SIW or unknown devices may help you determine which drivers to get. A safe bet would be to go to HP's download section and get everything available for that board.

Also, check the bios and ensure that "plug and play OS" is set to on or yes

I would also look in the bios/setup and ensure that the connectors on the board are actually turned on. USB headers on motherboards are pretty generic, meaning that you should be able to plug in pretty much any front panel device (audio, card readers, usb).

Please check these things and get back to me. If you need instructions on how to do any of this stuff, then get back to me and I will be happy to help further.

Hope this helps!!

Plugigng of wire in board

Hello there,

Below is an image of *********** Board with number indication and wiring explanation. From your manual page 1-6 you can see the image below and 1-7 for the connector, jumpers, slots. as indicated in your problem I will only answer problems related to the wirings.

  • For the Front Panel

pcsyke_117.jpg
1. There are 8 wires from the front panel's casing, excluding USB connectors and front audio cable.

2. Just plug the front panel switch headers to the F_Panel main board connectors. 1 & 2 are positive, if the led do not light change polarity but Im sure it will.

Note:The mainboard provides a front panel connector for electrical connection to the front panel switches and LEDs. JFP1 is compliant with Intel® Front Panel I/O Connectivity Design Guide.

  • For the USB connectors

pcsyke_118.jpg

1. If your casing has a USB header on the front bezel you can put it on any connector. You can also purchase a USB module cable or an internal card reader and plug the headers to any of those connectors.

Note: Observe Polarity, do this Vcc, -Data, +Data, Gnd ,(NC) ground is always near to NC.

Plug it at your own risk, reference image are already shown.

  • Front Panel Audio connectors

pcsyke_119.jpg
1. Look for FP_Audio header from your casing and plug it to the connector.

*Asus recommend you connect a high definition front panel audio module to this connector to avail of the motherboard's high-definition audio capability.

Hopefully this information helps.

Windows 7 NexStar CX USB 2.0 3.5 inch SATA drive when connecting, windows 7 can't recognize the USB drive and shows a message "unknown device". The blue light of the the hard drive...

This is the usual reason:
USB port has 4 pins (connectors). The two at the ends supply 5 Volts to the hard drive (or any other appliance you connect. I don't think there's a problem with those two because you can see the power light on the hard drive.
The middle is for data transfer. If one gets damaged, although the device gets power, the OS cannot recognize the device.
Try changing the USB cable you are using. Connectors in the wire are damaged more easily than those in the device.

I have an xw9400 board on a normal case, after connecting usb on board with the front panel, board still cant recognize front USB,i need to change wires in the connector to match the board, same thing with...

The front USB header on the XW9400 board has a ground connected to pin #10. The USB standard #10 pin has nothing connected to it, so HP uses it to sense whether a connector is attached to the header.

ASUS P4SDX USB Ports not recognized as USB2 HS Ports

The message comes up when a USB 2 device is connected to a slower USB 1 or 1.1 port. It is only to advise you that the devise will operate faster on a USB 2 port. If your computer has only USB 1 or 1.1 ports, you will always see the message. You can buy and install a card with USB 2 ports and install it. It will come with the USB 2 drivers. Install the card and the drivers and then connect your USB 2 device to the new hardware and you should not see the message anymore.

Good luck, And let me know ho it works out for you.

Where would I look for the usb port

Most Compaqs (in general all brands) have USB ports on both the front and rear of the case. The rear connectors are found where all the other I/O connections are located. They are flat rectangular sockets. When you want to plug in a USB device, you can plug into any open USB port. The plug will also only fit one way, so if it will not go into the connector just flip it over.

Front panel USB connectors are often hidden behind a door. Look for a swing-open or slide-down panel. On some cases the connectors may be on the top or sides.

When connecting devices such as a printer or external hard drive, you should use the rear-panel USB ports. These go directly into the system board and have the best performance. Front-panel USB connectors plug into the main board with cables. For most devices (including your SanDisk) it doesn't matter which you use, but the rear-panel ones are best for high-speed devices or moving lots of data.

You can usually find the user's guide online at the computer manufacturer's website, and that will show you where all the connector are on your system.

If this solution has been what you need, please take a moment to rate it. Thanks for asking here!
